Honestly personally feel like this was a waste of time and money. You pay $10 to see what was mostly a gift shop, and to read information that could quickly be Googled. I didn't travel all the way to the NT to learn about the Italian, Chinese and Russians who came to our country, I came to learn about the history of our Indigenous people and anything to do with them isn't just shoved in a corner and minimal at best, the majority is in a different building entirely. Very sad to see that this is what travellers, especially international ones are presented with when learning about us. Read moreIt is amazing how smaller regional centres can put together some awesome historical displays, and Katherine museum certainly puts a great display on for visitors. Set in really appealing and relaxing grounds, a visitor here gets a very informative, easy to read timeline narrative that provides a vast amount of interesting history of Katherine and the region. There is quite a lot to see and learn, and then you can relax and enjoy reasonably priced (you must expect to pay slightly more in these types of enterprises) refreshments. It definitely has a lot of history from around Katherine. I don't think there is a better way to display anything, but for us it was suuuuuuper wordy. Lots and lots of reading and my partner is a slow reader so it took us a while. Like I said, there is probably no better way to convey the information, but little kids may struggled to stay engaged in parts.
