A wonderful place for wildlife lovers. So many Raptors there and the staffs are very kind. First time seeing tawny frogmouth eating, it's so cute. The masked owl in the education center was quiet and calm. We saw 10 out of 13 Raptors in one place. Which is amazing! It made our day very special and exciting. Thanks to the staff who has huge knowledge of Raptors and shared to us. We recommend this place if you would like to discover more about Raptors. It's great to know about eyes color of grey goshawk are changing by their ages which is very special. 😀

My boys (8 & 12) and I had the most wonderful experience taking a tour of Raptor Refuge and seeing the amazing work of Craig and his team. They ensure all the wonderful winged friends in their care are comfortable and relaxed. We got to meet many new species of raptor and understand each birds unique story of how they came to be residents of Raptor Refuge. The work done here is incredible and helped us gain a better understanding of the impact humans have on these amazing creatures. Definitely recommend visiting.

A Hidden Gem – Intimate, Educational, and Truly Special Raptor Refuge was such a pleasant surprise. It’s an intimate and peaceful place where you really get the chance to connect with the birds and learn about the incredible work being done to protect them. The setting is beautiful, the staff are passionate and knowledgeable, and the experience felt personal and meaningful. A must-visit if you’re in Tasmania – educational, inspiring, and genuinely moving.

We had an unforgettable experience at the Raptor Refuge in Kettering, Tasmania! Our private 90-minute tour with Juliette was absolutely amazing. Juliette's extensive knowledge of the resident birds of prey added a whole new dimension to our visit. She made the tour engaging for all of us, including our 1-year-old, keeping us entertained and informed throughout.

Being up close to these incredible birds of prey was a truly mind-blowing experience. The refuge's commitment to the welfare of these magnificent creatures is evident in their care and conservation efforts. We left with a newfound appreciation for these majestic raptors and the important work being done here.

If you're looking for an educational and awe-inspiring adventure in Tasmania, the Raptor Refuge with Juliette as your guide is an absolute must-visit. It's a day we'll...

Our Visit to the Centre

Yesterday, my grandsons and I had the pleasure of visiting the Centre, and we were fortunate to be guided by Ziggy. His extensive knowledge of the birds, their environments, and the various aspects of the hospital and aviary facilities was truly impressive.

The birds themselves are magnificent—each one unique and awe-inspiring. While some of their stories are heartbreaking, often due to human-related causes such as collisions with power lines, it’s comforting to see the care and dedication given to their recovery.

The Refuge deserves heartfelt congratulations for creating such a meaningful sanctuary for injured birds, with the ultimate goal of releasing them back into the wild whenever possible. It’s an inspiring place, and our visit was both educational and deeply moving.

We want to say a...

Raptor-ous applause for this sanctuary for Tasmania’s precious birds. Wounded and incapacitated by cars, other human infrastructure, genetics and other misfortunes, the raptors and tawny frogmouths are nursed to health and release or to a permanent home in beautiful and sympathetic environs. The general health of the stayers is evident, and their homes fit for purpose and kept immaculate. Our guide was the knowledgeable, delightful enthusiast Ollie, and it was our pleasure to also meet Craig the owner who established and runs the Centre, and whose care and commitment was greatly evident. The education centre is excellent.

Please visit and then continue to support the Centre, as I have committed to do. Extra stars for being open when wild and woolly weather shut down everything...
