The Big Galah and Gift Shop Bakery in Kimba was a wonderful surprise on our journey from Port Augusta to Ceduna. As we stopped to refuel and grab a bite to eat, we were greeted by the friendly staff who made us feel right at home. The food was absolutely delicious - I had a bacon and egg roll and coffee that was not only tasty but also very reasonably priced. The real highlight of our visit was seeing the iconic Big Galah perched proudly at the entrance. It's a fun and quirky Aussie landmark that's definitely worth a photo opportunity. The gift shop attached to the bakery was also well-stocked with a wide range of souvenirs and gifts that showcased local produce and Australian-made products. Located halfway across Australia, The Big Galah and Gift Shop Bakery is a great place to take a break, refuel, and snap some photos. Whether you're looking for a quick bite to eat or some unique souvenirs to take home, this spot is definitely worth a visit. We'd highly recommend stopping here on your journey across Australia - you won't be...

This place is more souvenir shop than bakery. However the pies and pasties were good although very expensive (we paid $14 for a plain pie and spinach & cheese pastie!). Also got a Kitchener bun for $6 which had fake cream.

The spinach and cheese pastie was not what I was expecting. Filling was 95% standard vegetable pastie filling (potato, carrot pumpkin) with a spattering of spinach and a handful of tiny feta cubes. While it made for a slightly more interesting flavour, I don't know if I would have noticed the spinach and cheese if it wasn't labelled. Overall a well made pastie. Good flavour, nice wholemeal pastry, but not...

Bought a pie and a roll here, cost $17 - didn’t even realise because no prices posted anywhere.

The pie was literally the worst pie I’ve ever had and it was lukewarm despite being in the pie warmer.

The roll tasted nice but was so soggy around the edges it put me way off.

The toilets were out of order, which I have a theory isn’t even true because for months staff have been having cracks about people using toilets if they aren’t customers- I reckon they’ve just closed them

Do not stop here for fuel or food. Not worth it, take your photo at the Galah and keep on driving to the Shell down the road, or the...

After having dropped in here many times over the years, this latest visit was the best by far. The cashier was genuinely friendly, explained the refresh of the place, and was happy that we found the place very inviting. The pastries come from Tumby Bay and were delicious. We had a curry pie and a steak and mushroom pie and a vanilla slice. Coffe was great too. No photo of the pies as we were starving and scoffed them down. The vanilla slice survived for a photo.
