I'm a little biased here, Manning Gorge was our first Kimberly gorge experience so it sticks in my mind and rates a strong 5 stars. We stayed overnight at the campground and ferried our gear across Manning Creeking using the plastic drums. Many Kimberley hiking tracks are rated as moderate/ difficult despite being reasonably short. This could be because of the exposure to sun and heat and they are often rocky underfoot with rock scramble climbing. It had rained a few days before our visit so the falls were pumping. A beautiful cool water swim after the warm hike in (many people carry pool-noodles in). These are very popular falls so would recommend going early. The track does get busy and there are bottle necks at the rock face near the falls. A little effort to get to but definitely worth it. There are no public toilets or water facilities here, you will need to bring all...
ย ย ย Read moreAbsolutely stunning gorge! 100% worth the 2.5km walk in (5km return) Cross the river at the camp ground via the little boat, or swim across & put your belongings into the blue tubs to keep them dry. The walk is hot, dry & exposed for most of the journey. Lots of rocks to scramble over & the trail is marked with lots of arrows & dots of paint to keep you on track. Once at the gorge, the waterfall was stunning & it was amazing to swim underneath it. Lots of rock shelves to jump off and plenty of space for everyone to spread out and find a space to themselves. The sandy bottom in the middle was a lovely spot to stand & enjoy the gorge. Get your camping permits & can fill up with drinking water from the Roadhouse - 2022 info - roadhouse closes at 3pm on weekdays, 1pm on...
ย ย ย Read moreManning Gorge, although a bit of walk from the campground, is well worth it. Our favourite spot on the Gibb, plenty of fun to be had in the gorge. Huge campground with plenty of shade. Amenities located close to the campground entrance. Strict lights out policy, so take a torch if you need to use the facilities after 9.
Washing machines available, no fresh water at the campground but plenty at the roadhouse 6kms away.
Campfires allowed, no wood collecting on property though.
Did I mention the gorge is excellent! And if you dont want to do the walk, there a lovely little water hole close to the...
