Read moreThis afternoon/evening, I attended the Southern Lights Festival held at Coal Creek Community Park with the 1Step Support Group. It was very cold and wet with light rain and a top of 10 degrees. It was a sold out event meaning there were hundreds of people there.
The Coal Creek Community Park is a large area with several historical buildings and shops plus rotundas, footbridges, a creek, a lake and the old railway station. The lighting displays were very impressive with a mixture of bright string lights and backing floodlights highlighting the trees and vegetation.

Read moreI've been to Coal Creek many times in my life, spaced out over the years, so I've seen the park develop over time. Let me be clear: Coal Creek is a wonderful place with a lot of rich and fascinating stories tied into its buildings and displays. The addition of the art gallery at the start is particularly delightful.

The park needs donations, it needs visitors, it needs enthusiasm and generosity - not only to survive, but to thrive once more.
Do visit. Please visit. It's free to get in. Give donations if you can, spread the word, get people excited about this truly fascinating glimpse into our collective past. Coal Creek deserves to be a thriving...
