By far our worst experience in the Barossa. Our group of 8 arrived for our early afternoon seating (we had booked several months in advance). When we arrived, the cellar door was completely empty except for, I assume, the manager working on his laptop. Instead of welcoming and seating us we were immediately told we didn’t have a booking and “really needed to book for a group of this size”. When we explained we did have a booking, we were told the booking system doesn’t work. No apology, just that it doesn’t work and that, again, we “really needed to book ahead” (we had). We were then told it would take 15 minutes to set up our tasting, despite the cellar door being completely empty. Only when we offered to leave did the tasting suddenly become ready. When we were finally able to do the tasting we had booked for, the man who ran us through it couldn’t even be bothered to pack his laptop away and just kept working on it between pouring us wines and giving us minimal explanation (we were still his only customers).
Given how warm, friendly and welcoming other cellar doors were that day, it’s definitely one I would...
Read morePre booked a chocolate and wine tasting months prior. Arrived on time to be greeted by a middle aged lady. She never announced her name, quickly ran through the process then proceeded to leave us unattended for 10-15 minutes despite me stating at the start GB was my favourite red wine . She also mentioned that a 2018 Cab Merlot was on special at$15 then later said they were out of stock. She asked no personal questions despite us also telling her we were from Victoria. She proceeded to then do dishes, update books etc and simply ignored us. Meanwhile a group of walk in uni students were receiving the exact opposite attention from their younger host, engaging and informative and never left their table. . Our host did the company out of at least $150 in sales. Very unimpressed and...
Read moreWent for a drive through the Barossa recently and decided to check out the Grant Burge Cellar Door.
The grounds surrounding the building are beautiful and inviting. It’s a really nice place to be.
We didn’t have a booking but we arrived just after lunch time so maybe we got lucky as we were seated in a prime position with one of the best views the Barossa offers!
We decided to do a tasting and I’m glad we did! Unfortunately I can’t remember the name of the girl that was serving us but she was amazing! She was super knowledgeable about the region and all the wines and she was so easy to get along with. This was best experience my partner and I have had at any winery.
Ended up walking away with a few bottles of beautiful wine and some great memories.
Looking forward...
