Visited them in late September. I can only agree with some of the reviews here that not only has this Cellar Door has such a unique vibes, Joyce who was handling the customers was such a delight and knowledgeable when sharing the wines with us. And the wines were exquisite!!
With the rather laid-back music from jazz to oldies and goodies plus some French music, you can only imagine what an enjoyable time we had there. And for my wife to say her felt the oomph in their wines and the place, it means a lot.
So much that we got their Silentium Sparkling shiraz, which was sold for retail bottles, but Joyce had a bottle meant for tasting and sold that to us. We had it that nite and was really gorgeous. Yeast fed and keep for many years (2015) before releasing in 2024. It was sold at cellar price Aud89. But worth every drop.. so rich and intense.. the bubbly helped to uplift the palate and finish was long..
we came back the next day for another bottle of Samuel Nitschke Cabernets! This wine had some much depth and layers.. worth the price..
Don't miss this lovely Cellar and their wines.. (ps you will see their vine yards along the main road of...
Read moreI was really excited to show a few friends this small batch winery that I have fond memories of as a kid and young adult with my family. Unfortunately it was a bit of a disappointing experience. From the cellar hand letting us know that she’s on oxycodone more than once, her showing us ‘how to properly open a bottle of wine’.. a screw top bottle of wine.. I was expecting something more than her simply twisting the lid off. I found that a bit condescending. To basically shushing us from talking amongst our small group like we were naughty kids in the classroom. We felt very rushed for us to be done, and no one else was there. When you pay $25 pp for a wine tasting (that doesn’t benefit you at all if you make a purchase either) you expect to be graced a certain way during your paid for experience. The cellar hand didn’t even listen to what I asked for in terms of our purchase. She gave and charged my partner $69 for a wine we didn’t want nor ask for. I don’t know how you get ‘Samuel nitschke’ from ‘dolce’ but maybe we can blame that mistake on her being at work...
Read moreA true hidden gem of the Barossa. Small batch, single vineyard wines made for enjoyment and only available at the cellar door.
We tasted a full selection (but found the straight Grenache hard to go past) and enjoyed everything that was poured. Prices are slightly above the average (but oh, so worth it) and the woodfired pizza we shared was very tasty.
Afterward, we wandered down through the rose gardens down to the creek which was another gorgeous hidden treasure. Bring a picnic blanket and I'm sure you could happily spend a lazy afternoon on the lush green lawn with a pizza and bottle of vino lazing the day away. We will...
