K1 Wines — Attraction in Kuitpo

K1 winery and cellar door is aesthetically beautiful. We were a large group eager to do a wine tasting and purchase wines. We had previously been to multiple wineries throughout Adelaide this week and In comparison their wine was not of the same standard of the other wineries nor was the wine tasting experience.

All previous wineries allowed for our wine tasting fee to be waived when wines were purchased in excess of the total wine tasting price. However, K1 wineries did not specify that wine tasting must be paid unless of course you purchase more than 3 takeaway bottles per person. It is absurd to expect patrons to spend in excess of a $100 each, in order to waive the wine tasting fee.

In truth, I also don’t think I could have picked that many wines from K1 worth purchasing. The wines in the tasting were only 4 wines from their low to mid range, with little enthusiasm or shared knowledge regarding them.

We have spent thousands of dollars at other wineries and appreciate the need to charge for wine tasting when a purchase is not made. The website itself and the menu does not stipulate anywhere that it must be 3 bottles per person but rather 3 takeaway bottles on purchase. We were charged for the wine tasting plus the bottles we purchased as we had no hit their quota of 3 bottles per person.

K1 need to do better than rely on the reputation of Geoff Hardy to keep loyal customers and visitors through their cellar door or purchasing their wines. Great for photos but save yourself the mediocre wine tasting experience and...

I had my wedding here a few months ago and I have to acknowledge that this place is simply breathtaking. It caught my attention from the moment my car came down the driveway and I knew it would make for a magical day. My wedding day was brilliant but I have to say this was not mostly due to much effort on the part of the K1 staff. Their wedding business is poorly established and therefore lacks structure, making planning difficult. Many times I would provide information to the owner regarding the wedding via email, only to have questions pertaining to the same matter asked again numerous times. My husband and I were disappointed that instead of professional staff serving on the wedding day, the business instead had family members. The owner's sister was less than pleasant and blatantly ignored my initial request for food to be served to my vendors at a particular time, and for wine to be placed on tables to allow guests to help themselves. I heard from many guests that they were not constantly offered drinks and had to ask multiple times to be served. This is not reflective of the $120pp I paid for a drinks package and I guess is a tactic to keep their costs down. I, the bride also had to ask this same woman multiple times to have different wines brought to my table. It was unbelievable. The owner's daughter was however more than pleasant and acknowledged my request. K1 Wines. An incredibly beautiful winery in Kuitpo South Australia. Magnificent wines and a place we love coming back too. So when we decided to get married.... K1 had to be on the list! Enter Kat, our event coordinator. Amazing, beautiful, warm, creative bubbly Kat! I could tell you that Kat did the most beautiful setting for us, in Adelaide's most beautiful winery! The team (including Geoff Hardy!), made busy making our dreams come true. I could elaborate and explain how much we love Kat, how we can never really thank her enough for the magic she wove into our lives. The way it all culminated on the day. The lengths Kat went to. The curated wine list, recommendations for flowers, catering, lighting etc. The laughs over the tastings. All to ensure our day was exquisite, perfect, glamorous, romantic and that our guests were speachless. Cameras clicked all night and the party went off! Compliments like "best wedding ever", said by all, and days later continue!
