Middle Springs, located just outside the charming town of Kununurra in Western Australia, is a true hidden gem that offers a perfect blend of natural beauty, adventure, and relaxation. This picturesque spot is a favorite among locals and visitors alike, providing a refreshing escape from the heat and a chance to immerse yourself in the stunning Kimberley landscape.

The springs are part of the Ord River system and feature a series of crystal-clear pools connected by small cascades and gentle waterfalls. The water is cool and inviting, making it an ideal spot for swimming, especially during the hot dry season. The natural rock formations surrounding the pools create a beautiful and serene environment, perfect for unwinding and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.

One of the highlights of Middle Springs is its accessibility. The site is relatively easy to reach, with a short drive from Kununurra followed by a manageable walk to the springs. The trail is well-marked and offers scenic views of the surrounding bushland, adding to the overall experience. Once you arrive, you’ll find plenty of spots to relax, whether it’s on the smooth rocks by the water’s edge or in the shade of the surrounding trees.

For the more adventurous, Middle Springs offers opportunities for exploration. You can follow the water upstream to discover smaller pools and cascades, each with its own unique charm. The area is also great for photography, with the clear water, vibrant greenery, and dramatic rock formations providing endless opportunities for stunning shots.

One thing to keep in mind is that Middle Springs is a natural and relatively undeveloped site, so there are no facilities like toilets or picnic tables. Visitors should come prepared with plenty of water, snacks, and any other essentials. It’s also important to practice Leave No Trace principles to help preserve the beauty of this special place for...

Not recommended for normal caravans. 4x4 and offroad campers only. Well worth a look! We paddled in the water and it was beautiful and...

You will need a 4WD to get close to this Spring. There are 2 Creek crossings if you follow the sigh from the main road. It had a bit of debris on the surface however I went in for a dip. Apparently there are fresh pools if you want to walk up on top. We chose...
