What a great place to over night Massive area right next to the dams waters edge We were told about this place by a very helpful Council worker when we stayed at the St Catherine’s church RV park in Proserpine Another great council facility (thank you Proserpine council) Catering for all campers from swags to big motor homes Great to see the kids and big kids enjoying themselves in the outdoors Nothing better than an own fire and quiet glass of wine watching the sunseth

Camping grounds are mowed and secure with regular security, police and shire patrols (all friendly). Toilets are clean and well stocked, showers need attention with broken hot water taps but are semi clean…..even after cleaners have been through. The view is breathtaking and extended stays happen regular without penalty. Check the Barra season if catching one is your intention and do your permit before you arrive as there is no service and no wifi.

The Prosperpine shire council should be proud of the Peter Faust Dam and the facilities which are provided. It's a wonderful spot to visit and enjoy time outdoors. The dam area was clear of rubbish, there are tables and barbecues available and heaps of car parks, even an underbody vehicle wash station. For the campers, there is plenty of distance separating the day trippers from those who are staying on that bit longer.

This is yet to star in my 'coming soon' blog post on sammiewilson.org

But, what I can say is absolutely awesome spot to come for a free getaway.

I was a bit disappointed in how some others treated the place with little regard for others. They played loud music, put deodrant bottles in their fires and just made yahoos of themselves. This is why great, free spots for everyone to enjoy gets ruined by the small minority doing the wrong thing.

Other than that, however, I will definitley want to go back especially if the hot showers and amenities remain clean and beautiful like they were.

Proserpine council should definitely give themselves a pat on the back.

Remember, come read my blog as I embark on a journey around Australia with four children, a cheeky parrot, playful guinea pig and mischeivious husky pup -...
