Lal lal Falls are best viewed from the scenic reserve which has BBQ picnic tables, a very basic playground and toilet facilities. A short, 250m walk allows you to view the falls from 2 different platforms, however getting any closer to the falls than that is prohibited by the local council for safety reasons. A very short car ride is the parking spot for Moorabool and Granite falls, the latter of which is inaccessible given the state of the track that enables you to access it (completely overgrown with blackberries and vegetation etc). The walk to Moorabool is about a 5.5km easy return (took me and 2 kids 1.5hours) but the weather made the track very, very wet in sections and the view was obstructed by long grass. The platform to view Moorabool Falls was not at the best angle to really appreciate the waterfall, but as it was very full of water we did see...

The drive to Lal Lal falls is a little concerning as you pass through some fairly normal look fields, and you are fairly more disappointed as you arrive at what looks like an open grassy field with not much to see.

Lal Lal falls was a present surprise however. The kids enjoyed a good play on the playground, and once we walked to the falls, it is quite a sight to see. Falling down into a big gorge, the falls are more impressive than some others in the region with a nice backdrop. There is a short walk you can follow which is nice itself, and then leads to a view of a massive reservoir, and then further along a mystical looking pine Plantation.

Great for a day out, on the way out its nice to stop to have a look at the Blast...

We were really disappointed to find the falls almost 100% dry when we visited (early January).

It was a baking hot day, and after driving out of our way to get there, there was only a small puddle of water at the bottom, we actually found ourselves standing at the top of the falls without meaning too.

The gorge was beautiful and I can imagine how lovely this would be when running, however for us dragging 2 small kids though a paddock of long grass in the intense heat and trying to calm a 4 year old about the possibility of snakes, it really was a waste of time.

You can follow the same path farther down for more viewing spots, but it just wasn't worth it. Best to come in winter or...

Really nice!! It wasn’t a crazy flow of water when I went but still really pretty.. you drive up to a car park which doesn’t look like much, there’s a toilet block… but maybe 200metres there’s the lookout, There’s a sign saying to not go down but you can and it’s fine. also drove to the other side in order to find Granite falls which wasn’t worth it at all because you have to walk into the gorge.. and the waterfall wasn’t much.. , but on the way found the way to the top of Lal Lal falls! Really easy and sturdy to get to. Stick to dry rocks and you’ll be fine.
