We came across Bleasdale winery just by chance as it was so inviting from the outside with his buildings surrounded by vineyards we thought we would pop in for a quick tasting. Damien, who is actually a direct descendant of Frank Potts whose family have run the winery since the 1850 was there to offer us a sample of their wines. The tasting was $10 per person and it was easy to pick a couple of bottles to take home with us. They were delicious and the information given by Damen was fantastic. He even took us into the barrel room and the museum and explained the history of his family’s vineyard since the 1850’s. We didn’t even realise that they have been a sponsor for the Melbourne football club . But Don’t put that against them because their wines are tremendous we purchased their sparkling rosé, rosé and Sauvignon blanc. We will be back again next weekend for a tasting with our Melbourne friends who are up for...

So disappointing. First the setting - only one table outside on a beautiful autumnal afternoon is crazy. But it was the wine tasting that made us scratch our heads. There's a list of what's open and that's great for the complimentary tasting. There's also a list of all their wines by the bottle and the glass. But that should read by the glass IF they have a bottle open. But they don't note which bottles are open so you are left to wander the list and then ask if by chance a particular bottle is open. What would be wrong with a blackboard noting what's open right now? The nail in the coffin was when my husband ordered a glass of wine and the inexperienced young girl serving us poured it, noting she wasn't sure how much was in the bottle. She was right. There was about 3/5ths of a glass. She just shrugged and walked away but still charged us. Please, a little staff training...

We called in as we were driving past, and they were not busy, but it would probably pay to book if you are a large group. Free self guided look around the museum area and wine tasting starting from $10. You can also buy crackers and cheese and platters to eat at reasonable prices. We had some amazing goats cheese and crackers to eat while I sampled several of their range of wines. We ended up buying a couple of bottles of some of the wines tasted and had the $10 flight fee deducted, which was a nice bonus. I wasn't rushed to try the wines and was given the opportunity to swap between wines on other $ 10 flights if I wanted to. Nice to read about Frank Potts and how he started & how they managed floodwaters to benefit the region.

We had an amazing experience, thanks to Dean! We tasted the majority of the wines and they were absolutely brilliantly made. Very beautifully balanced, well integrated, just a pleasure to drink. I am a very critical and analytical taster and wine professional wset4 level. It surpassed all my expectations. Very consistent quality wine making, well done Paul. The malbecs were fabulous. My person favourites were the gsm and the Frank potts bordeaux blend. Price quality here is through the roof. Highly recommend going here! Hidden Gem for sure
