Don't even bother to come here. Is nothing like the videos on the website and past reviews. We got there just as a older local couple were leaving. They have lived in Leeton for 20 years and had never seen the wetlands so bad. There was very little water in the place and what water there was was obscured by 2m tall long grass. Photos on metal plates around the walk show masses of water and birds but when you look out from where the photo was taken there was just dirt, grass and weeds. Had to walk a quarter of the way around(on the advice of the two locals we met)along a path with tall grasses on either side with nothing visible(see photo) just to get to a small elevated platform where we could see pelicans and spoonbills off in the distance and even then with a 600mm lens could not get good photos due to the long grass even when on a elevated platform. There was a couple of other very small holes in the tall grass where you could glimpse birds if you stood on your toes. Such a disappointment and really not what is advertised. Will not be visiting again

Lovely walk with lots of wildlife. A few signs were taken down which was disappointing but very family friendly area for picnics with fresh grass and multiple bench tables. Spotted without binoculars: Grey kangaroos & a joey Blue-faced honeyeaters Multiple families of Purple-Backed Fairy Wrens Purple Swamphens Pelicans Little Pied cormorants Black Swans Great Egrets White-Faced herons White Ibis' Yellow-Billed Spoonbill A variety of Ducks & a few other birds that were too fast to identify.

Great conservation initiative. Best place to watch dozens of waterfowl, ducks, small birds and raptors. Paul Maytom informed us that they're working to make it wader friendly as well, hopefully that will bring more migratory & resident waders as well.

Would be a lovely place however it is not maintained. Catsheads cover the walking tracks (unfortunately sprayed too late after they have gone to seed) which made the walk unpleasant. I had to carry my young son as he had so many cats heads in his shoes they were piercing his feet, the same with me. There are also numerous other nasty weeds which aren't being managed and sprayed appropriately which detracts from what could be a beautiful place. Also, there are no bins anywhere, including the picnic area so there is a lot of...
