Mt Rothwell is a critically important area for the ongoing protection and breeding of endangered species & protection of increasing rare basalt plains grasslands. We went on Creatures of the Night you're in Nov 2021 and had a fantastic experience - seeing a huge array of these rare and incredibly cute threatened species in their natural habitat. Learning about the management, habitat and autecology was another highlight.

We had a BBQ and did the night wildlife walk when we visited. We started seeing animals as soon as we got there and saw lots of critters on the walk. All in all a really good experience.

Wonderful place and I love their efforts. This is what Australia should look like! Amazing re-wilding efforts.

Pros: Lovely night walk. Just the right length without getting too tired, weather was cool but beautiful. Very informative guide. Not just about the wildlife but also the history of the land, geology. Plenty of critters spotted, not just a 2 hour walk to see a dead cricket. Easily accessible, good facilities at the base- toilets, cover. Your $50 goes to a good not for profit cause.

Cons Group was too large. 25 ppl following a trail at night like a herd of elephants. At times couldn't hear the guide over ppl noise. Saw lots of critters but only about 4 different ones. After my 17th rock wallaby I lost interest a bit. Told to arrive at 5:30. We all then just stood around for 45 mins waiting. Tell us to...
