Having lived all my life in Melbourne, I was shocked at having not known about the spectacular beauty to be seen from the look-out at the Big Rock picnic grounds in You Yang Regional Park at the foot of the You Yangs. The photos I am posting do not do justice to the breathtaking panorama of forests you will see stretching into the distance. It might not rival the best of the views from the Grampian peaks or Blue Mountains, but gosh it comes close! It is almost a mini Uluru with a very easy walk to the ledge look-outs. The picnic area is immaculately maintained with ample parking, excellent new BBQ and toilet facilities. And it is only about an hour's drive out of Melbourne. There are lots of trails which I look forward to exploring to explore, some of which go to important historical sites. We saw people abseiling and there are mountain-bike trails. Honestly, what more...

Best hiking nearby for Western suburbs. Since we were introduced to this place, we have been on love with it. One would see us hiking almost every weekend. The best trail so far is the East-West loop. And the best part is where it connects to the other mountain nearby, I think it's on the North side. We have been on that adjacent mountain too which is more rocky and we liked it so much. You have to be early to beat the crowd. Once it's 9 am and up, you won't find a parking space. So usually we start the trail at 7:30, maximum by 8 am. Even at this time you would find many cyclist at the start of the road near the entry. I would recommend this park to all. They even have grill areas for picnics. Awesome place to spend some quality time...

I visited the You Yangs not knowing what to expect, and honestly, when I got there I amazed by the beauty of the place. There's so many walking tracks and picnic areas, and the most important thing that I found very helpful is the organisation of the place where you can never get lost. It's very well looked after. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the organisers looking after the place. Great place to go away and forget the hustle...

Walks for all fitness levels, its a popular spot for everyone and you can find yourself looking for a parking spot sometimes during peak times. Very scenic for photos. The You Yangs are a series of granite ridges that rise above the Werribee Plain approximately south-west of Melbourne and 22 km north-east of Geelong, in Victoria, Australia. The main ridge runs roughly northโ€“south for about 9 km, with a lower extension running for about 15 km to the west.

Fabulous Hills. Great walking / marked hiking trails, with super views all round. Good car parking areas with natural toilets, and bench seating, some with shade. The walks are on uneven ground with obstacles and some scrambling over rocks. But able bodied people will be ok with it. Walking boots would be best. Do bring your own provisions, water, sun block etc. as there's no shop nor cafรฉ. Fantastic place. ๐Ÿ“ธ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘
