I have been to Lizard Island in quite a few ways now. By plane and staying at the resort and by ship (Coral Expeditions) staying on the boat and believe it is a true paradise. The reef around the island is stunning. There are a few good walks including the hike to Cooks Look where Captain Cook and his crew looked out over the reef to find a safe passage. Read moreUntouched wilderness: the island itself is interesting loads of wild life especially birds and lizards. Lots of walking tracks to explore. However the snorkeling is amazing. The best reefs are no more than 30 metres from the various benches. Millions of fish, clams and corals. Swim with the turtles and cute little reef sharks. An amazing experience. There is a resort but I hear it's pretty expensive. Camping is available. Various small airlines will fly you there...
