This is definitely not a place to go for a group setting. I called in advance for a party of 10 for a tasting and to enjoy the afternoon. I inquired about their pizza and they advised me it wasn’t set up just yet but they have cheese platters. Seeing it was my birthday and just a way for a few close friends to enjoy the day together was not at all how it turned out. Only an hour into our “tasting” we were being advised that we needed to leave as they only allow around an hour for tastings. 2 friends purchased cheese platters and when telling the owner more people would be purchasing cheese he responded “that’s all you get.” He then proceeded to tell me we needed to leave as they were unaware it was my birthday and we were only booked in for a tasting. I had my 4 month old baby with me and from what I’ve ALWAYS experienced at wineries, you do a tasting, and then typically stay and enjoy some wine that you liked. We arrived at 12:30 and were being kicked out by 2:00. Hardly enough time to even enjoy the vineyard. He was extremely rude not only to me but my guests as well. I left a review on their Facebook page (only saying they were extremely rude and there wasn’t enough cheese platters to go around for our group) and received a threatening inbox message saying “if I didn’t take my review down they would take action without prejudice and with no further contact to me.” They were extremely unprofessional and ruined the entire day for myself and my close friends. We spent around $300 in wines and food and our business was greeted with contempt. It’s not easy getting out with a new baby and I left in tears from the way I was treated and felt extremely embarrassed in front of my guests. I feel as though people do need to know about this considering they removed my Facebook review and others to hide the truth of their establishment. I do not recommend this winery as there are so many other beautiful places to choose from in the Adelaide Hills that will appreciate your business and allow you to appreciate the serenity of the Hills Wine.
The vineyards response to this review is fabricated as no one was swearing or using profanities. The police were never called. We were a group with children for crying out loud. As if we’d behave in such a disgraceful manner. Yes, we did in fact leave at 3 as we had to wait for my 10 year old daughter to be dropped off to us after a sleepover. I told him this in the very beginning as well. I also told him it was my birthday in conversation when we started our tasting. Saying they waved our tasting fee is laughable.. as they should! We spent over $300! I guess if you are celebrating any kind of occasion be sure not to choose this as your venue. If by bringing food (someone made me a cake) they clearly are not a venue that wants a group to enjoy themselves and wish them well. The wines are nothing to excite your palate either. Very young...
Read moreHad an enjoyable afternoon sitting in the picturesque setting at Between the Vines, with friends and four kids under 5. Kids were entertained with old skool games like connect four and jenga, albeit gigantic hand made versions and we were made to feel welcome. Would recommend for young families.
The owners spent some time talking to us about their vineyard and the wines they are currently producing and how they constructed the cellar door. The Pinot was really good (will be better after ageing) and the sparkling was also good.
The winery isn’t a mass-producing machine, it is a niche winery 30mins from the city, that has a very relaxing outdoor area beside a pond/dam or a English style cosy area by the fire for eating cheese and drinking wine. We will certainly be coming back next time we are in Adelaide....
Read moreAbsolutely gorgeous winery! The wine was delicious and the young bloke who served us was super sweet and really welcoming. There was hardly anyone here so it was so peaceful and heaps of different tables and chairs to choose from each with different views. The place is well kept and so many cute touches to each area of the winery. As soon as you come into the area you are hit with the burning wood smell which made it super cosy. We had the best time! Would...
