Great walk and beautiful waterfall at the end.... went during winter, early July and the waterfall had a perfect water stream. However we parked at the car park and went down the wrong trail because we couldn’t find the directions. To go to the waterfall you have to park the car and walk a little further down the road and find the directions board shown in the picture or simply use google maps! Which We unfortunately didn’t do until walked down another trail which could be accessed directly from the car park. However this trail had more beautiful sceneries and went along a river which was worth the effort. Both trails take about 30-40 minutes one-way.

This is a good tough hike through ferns and tall eucalypt trees with some great scenery located not far from Lorne on the surf coast with it´s rugged coastlines sandy beaches on the Great Ocean Road. Start in the car park just off Allenvale Road near Allenvale Mill Camp Site you then head up alongside the St George River alongside orchard before a descent to the base of Phantom Falls. It has one steep section with significant rock scrambling for a few hundred metres leading up to Cora Lynn Cascades, and for about 1km after Erskine Falls. Wear a decent pair of boots - this is not a track for wearing runners.

Beautiful Falls (once you make it there), depending on where you park, it could be a simple walk. If you're walking from Allenvale Mill, be prepared for a "Grade 3" hike, which is a 1.5 hour round trip without stopping to sight see. There are some hilly parts to this trip. However, closer to the falls, there are some major inclines and steep stair decent to the falls. However, at the beginning of the walk, before it turns into a hike, you get to walk through an apple orchid, see cows, horses, ducks, and kangaroos.

Incredible waterfall. Bit of a walk to get to with some steep slopes. You cannot see much from the viewing platform at the top but there is a path leading down towards the base where you can get right up close to it. It's very rocky and would be very slippery in winter. I'd recommend good hiking shoes for going down to the base. However, once you arrive it really does feel like it's hidden away. We were the only people there when we went and really enjoyed how peaceful it was. Definitely recommend going!

Hidden secret at the back of Lorne. Perhaps because you do need to trek cross country a bit. Worth the effort, as the view is stunning, especially after recent rain when it runs full. You need to be reasonably fit for the walk, and access is quite steep and it can be slippery after rain. Not recommended for people with mobility issues. If you take young children with you, be prepared to carry them over or down obstacles and rocks. Pls note, there is no mobile reception at the falls. So, be safe.

A 5 minute drive via Allenvale road to Allenvale road carpark from lorne. Park here and cross the road to start the picturesque walk in to phantom falls passing through some private properties with orchards and the river with beautiful ferns growing everywhere, a very easy walk just one hilly section of about 300 metres long other wise mainly flat till you get to the falls and follow the steps to the bottom of the falls, well worth the 40 minute walk each way 😀
