I recently had the pleasure of joining the Solar Whisper Wildlife and Crocodile Cruise on the Daintree River, and it was an unforgettable experience. The solar-powered boat provided a serene and eco-friendly journey, allowing us to glide silently through the river without disturbing the natural habitat. This quiet approach enabled us to get remarkably close to the wildlife, including several crocodiles, vibrant bird species, and even a tree snake.  

Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and passionate about the local ecosystem. They provided insightful commentary throughout the tour, enhancing our understanding and appreciation of the unique flora and fauna of the Daintree Rainforest. The use of the “Croc Cam,” a high-zoom camera displayed on a screen, allowed everyone on board to observe hard-to-spot animals up close without causing any disturbance.

One of the highlights of our trip to Australia! We met David, the owner, and our skipper, Mark (I hope I’m remembering his name correctly). They were both super friendly and knowledgeable. Mark was absolutely amazing and had the eyes of a hawk! I’m still in awe of the wildlife he was able to spot. Mark used both a laser pointer and a camera with a high zoom to help everyone spot things. He also made sure to orient the boat in different positions so that everyone on the boat had an opportunity to see. Very thoughtful! He was also an expert skipper and was able to squeeze the boat through narrow passageways. Not to mention the heaps of knowledge he shared the whole way through.

We did the 1 hr tour and got to see not only an adult crocodile out of the water but baby crocodiles, birds (a kingfisher!), snakes, and frogs. We were fully prepared to see nothing, given that you can’t control the wild, but the team tried really hard and really went the extra mile for us. They also did a pickup and drop off on the north side of the river which must’ve been a bit of a hassle for them but we really appreciated it (thank you!). I highly recommend Solar Whisper.
