Myself and three guests dined there with a booking for lunch at 12.30 , it was a couple days after Xmas day and when we arrived it was packed to the rafters
Instantly I was thinking it was going to be a long wait for meals, but was greeted by very friendly helpful staff
The atmosphere had a warm relaxed feel with a touch of simplicity about it
The food was a bit on the higher side and we wanted to order the Oysters from the special board but was already sold out by 12.30 they sounded great. Might be one for next visit
We ordered a taste plate at $55 for two people and was advised that it would be enough for four, We also swapped the wallaby for pulled pork, and even though the food was divine we were charged an extra $10 for one very small piece of pork
I would definitely order this again but only for two and not swap anything
We also chose from the specials board the blue eye and the prawns, WOW is all I can say the food was spot on, I chose the blue eye and it was very soft and tasted fresh .
The prawns were packed with flavour and didn't appear to be previously frozen, if they had been I couldn't tell.
If you asked was there any down side and this is nit picking as they were so busy I would say a bit of cracked pepper may be nice for some
Our waitress Stella was amazing as was all the staff we encountered, wait times were very reasonable for the amount of people there and Stella did not forget a thing
Bruny Island Premium wines was more than a meal, it was a dining experience, they also provide wine tastings but it was too busy that day to try, but the bottles we ordered was really nice Probably catering more for the adult market , I assume being a winery
So over all we had an amazing dining experience, the food, wine and the service was all the best of the best, and worth every cent
I would highly recommend that if you are looking for a dining experience rather than just a meal put this on your to do list ,we will...
Read moreUpon arrival was greated after ten minutes, the staff were behind the bar talking loudly about other customers which i found very unprofessional.
Our waitress was lovely. Very accommodating and even recommended places for us to visit, i didnt catch her name but she was from chille
We ordered a cab merlot and pinot nior Which was delightful, so tasty and smooth.
We had the hummus and sourdough to start, which was a special that we couldnt fault it was devine, maybe tbe best hummus weve tasted.
I ordered the vegan mushroom burger and my partner the wooly jumper burger
Presentation was good however had hardly any filling especially the mushroom burger, burger buns were beyond stale and the roast potatoes were barely roasted i would say they were more boiled, no crisp whatsoever.
Pumpkin on the mushroom burger was also hard. Rarely any relish on both burgers.
A serve of four boiled potatoes each, which didn't meet our expectations.
We should have left after the starter.
Our waitress seemed under a lot of pressure we only saw her running around while others were talking or not even present.
The burgers wasnt refunded was only discounted $10 on both burgers even though only the filling was consumed
Very let down from the whole experience, after glowing reviews we were so excited to try and reading the menu we were expecting to be leaving with a full happy stomach and a great review. $69 out of pocket still hungry and feel robbed that they even charged us for their mains.
Focus was clearly on the wines and...

TASTING: charge $5 and not deducted when you have lunch at the restaurant.
You are allowed to pick only 4 items among 3 ciders and about 12 wines.
It is more a bar than a proper cellar door. Some wines are interesting such as the sauvignon blanc or Chardonay but once again overpriced ($55 for sauvignon blanc).
RESTAURANT The grill menu indicates a nice selection of beef, lamb and walabi cuts. Before taking the order the waiter mentioned that out of the 5 beef cuts on the menu only 1 was available, out of the 3 lamb cuts same thing and out of the 2 walabi cuts idem.
We had Rib eye filet $ 38: cooking fine, garnish without interest, portion prety small 160g.
Beef burger $20: generous patty, the bun looked like a pale frozen bun quickly toasted.Nothing to accompany the burger, no chips not even a bit of mixed leaves.
Broccolinis as a side $11 cooking ok, salt unevenly sprinkled, way too salty on some parts, fine on others.
Seafood chowder as a starter $18 pure rip off The seafood was limited to 2 scallops not bigger than half of my baby finger must probably coming from a cheap frozen seafood mix, 2 dices of salmon, same size and a mussel. The broth/sauce was salty but tasteless.
Appreciated the reaction of the chef who came out of the kitchen after we mentionned that we were disappointed when paying the bill. He offered a desert.
In a nutshell biggest deception in a restaurant after travelling in...
