I booked 5 nights at $180 per night. Prior to visiting I had checked out the video on Gnaraloo Homestead and spoken with staff remarking how I was looking forward to a stone house on the beach. It was what I was looking for but not what I found it to be. The way it is advertised I thought I was getting a beach home to use. However on arrival there was a large 44 gallon drum blocking the entrance to the check-in house. I called out and Coleen who works there came out and gave me the run down on the place and what I could do. I started to get a sinking feeling this is not what I was after. I had told Coleen on the phone I wanted a beach experience. So I went to check out house no. 12 which was very spacious had a balcony like was shown on the video but when I looked out over the balcony there was a high gully full of goats and large sanddunes then a glimpse of the Ocean. I also realized I would have to drive each day to get to any beach to snorkel and swim at. After two nights I had had enough this place was to boring. I went to the 3 Mile Lagoon Camp and met Sue who suggested why don't I stay in one of there lots. It was then arranged for me for the lady 3 nights and I was in Paradise Sue gave me lot 5 which was right across from the Lagoon the cost for each night was wait for it only $20 a night. This was what I was after. Instead of costing $900 I would have only had to pay $100 for the 5 nights. Coleen said they would transfer $60 to cover my nights but no refund for the rest. My Advise stay at 3 Mile Lagoon Camp instead great atomphere, had a shop, u can get internet for a small cost, there are toilets and showers ther also. Coleen was a lovely lady and very helpful but the homestead was a waste of money completely. Very disappointed. Some other people I spoke to felt the same about the homestead. Happy days will return to 3 Mile Lagoon Camp...
Read moreWe had a lovely time in the New Shearers Quarters along with 5 families (group of 24 people) we hired the whole quarters for just ourselves during July School Holidays. This was a great experience and we all loved it. The quarters have a very large and functional kitchen well equipped with 3 fridges and small freezers. There is a separate room to store stuff and a big top freezer. There are 2 shower/bathroom blocks with 2 showers and 2 toilets each who were clean and working well. We did one for boys and one for girls and it worked very well. The common area is outdoor so no shelter in case of rain and located in the middle of the 2 blocks of rooms. There were 4 tables and 25 chairs there to accommodate our group. There are 13 rooms with 2 single bed per room that were relatively comfortable. Basically it is a rectangle with 4 rooms facing north and 4 rooms facing south then in middle common area and on the other side 2 rooms facing north and 3 rooms facing south (these are facing a generator that switches off at 12am and starts again at 7am it was a bit noisy but with the door closed the sound was completely ok) the kitchen and spare room are on that side as well. There is also a gaz BBQ and a large fire pit with space to put 15 chairs around. Wood can be purchased from 3 Mile Camp at $30 a bag. The only area of improvement would be to may be dedicate one of the 13 rooms as a "games/quiet" room and put 2 couches and a coffee table in case the weather is not good but we did not have rain so it was all good for us this time around. Would definitely recommend for large group, we had a lovely time. Thank you Gnaraloo Station for having us and being so lovely...
Read moreHad an amazing stay here 7th-10th March ! Stayed at cabin 6 and was perfect, definitely will be returning. Colleen is so lovely and helpful :) and Paul is great and a good laugh, feels like a well loved place to stay - really stands by the name ‘where the desert meets the sea’. Beds were comfy, shower warm, bbq was great! Gets pretty windy there sometimes but its nice at night with the wind blowing through the windows, dont do what I did on a windy day and leave all the windows open when you go out for the day because you come back with so much sand blown in haha! I also love how every morning at 5am-6ish all the goats were Infront of the house migrating in a line 😆 - and if one stopped they all stopped it was like a traffic jam, so interesting and funny to watch - especially all the baby goats jumping up and walking across the wall. Beautiful snorkeling spots around the area, it is a really...
