Emerald Creek Falls is a hidden gem offering a serene and picturesque experience. The journey to the falls involves driving on a dirt road, so caution is advised to protect your car from rocks that may cause splashing. Once you arrive, a short and easy walk awaits, allowing you to immerse yourself in the natural beauty surrounding the falls.

The crystal-clear waters cascading down the rocks create a mesmerizing display, providing a perfect spot to cool off, capture stunning photos, and enjoy the peaceful ambiance. Good set of waterfalls here. Easy walk there, not too strenuous with moderate fitness. 1.6km return.

The route is compacted gravel/path up until the final 100m when it involves some scrambling/walking over rocks to get to the base of the waterfall. The lookout point avoids this and keeps with a path.

The rocks around the waterfall are very very smooth and so are slippery even when dry, let alone when wet.

We went for a swim afterwards in the creek below the waterfall as was easier with kids. Getting in and out of the water by the waterfall could be quite tricky given how slippery it is.

Road to the trailhead is about 9km, 7km of gravel road in pretty good condition. The Toyota Camray made it...

Another great place around the Cairns Tablelands for freshwater swimming and good walking, Emerald Creek has multiple swimming holes ranging in accessibility... some pools can be found right near the carpark and others scattered up the granite boulder laden hill where the many sets of falls run down in majestic beauty. Decent walking track to the top but be prepared to go "off track" to get to the best spots. Emerald Falls Creek is a fair bit off the main highway along mostly gravel road which is quite corrugated in patches so drive safely. Eco toilets at carpark. A local swimming hole so some families often there on weekends but over all still quiet and picturesque. The water is...

Massively underrated. We're staying in Cairns and drove an hour to get to this place as we heard about feeding the rock Wallabies. On the way, we started regretting leaving Cairns thinking it was just going to be a camping site. But it turns out it's an actual treck you can do. Theres a yellow route which is easier about 35- 40 mins which is the one we did. Then there's a red route which is harder and can take 1.5 hrs. We had such a good time. Kids can do the yellow one too. We bought food for the Wallabies for $1 per bag. We got 4 haha. Probably only needed 2. All we had to do was shake the food bag and they just came bouncing out of the rocks. Get a bag of food for the turtles too. They love it!
