We’ve long been fans of Voyager wines—especially their exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. So when we heard that Voyager Estate was hosting a Cellar in the City event in Brisbane, we jumped at the chance and secured our tickets right away.
Having attended similar events hosted by renowned wineries like Two Hands and Rockford, we had high expectations. Those past experiences were memorable: warm, engaging atmospheres, insightful storytelling from the winemakers themselves, and thoughtfully curated tastings that showcased each wine to its fullest potential.
Unfortunately, the Voyager Estate event was a major letdown in terms of organization and overall experience. There was no formal introduction or welcome to set the tone. The wine selection was surprisingly limited, and the space was overwhelmingly noisy, making it nearly impossible to hear or engage meaningfully. The two Voyager staff members present seemed overwhelmed, rushing from table to table and offering little more than a quick pour—there was no real opportunity for discussion or connection.
The biggest disappointment came just an hour into the event, when we were abruptly told it was time to leave—despite not having had the chance to sample all the wines we came to taste. It was an incredibly frustrating and disheartening end to an evening we had looked forward to with such enthusiasm.
Voyager produces outstanding wines, but events like this do a disservice to their brand. Great wine deserves great storytelling and hospitality to match. Sadly, this event failed to...
Read moreSeveral friends attended yesterday for a wine tasting. We were met with some of the worst customer service we have ever received, by one server in particular. To begin with, the server essentially avoided interacting with us and seemed to be bothered by any attempts to interact. We felt like we were majorly imposing on her, no matter how minimal the interaction. We ultimately bought approx. 4 bottles of wine and I went to pay for the tasting (minus the $10 per bottle purchased). She keyed in the amount to the EFTPOS terminal. Another friend informed me that they would actually buy another bottle. This would require her altering the amount payable by $10. She sighed extremely loudly and rolled her eyes noticeably, and made a pointed remark about how we should have decided to buy those bottles before going to pay for the tasting. She informed us that if we had paid, doing a refund for the extra $10 was a lot of hassle for her and we would be imposing significantly. This was consistent with her entire demeanour throughout our interactions: that we were imposing on her simply by interacting as part of the tasting and purchasing process. This was quite disappointing as we ended up spending around $250 and would’ve stayed longer and bought more if we hadn’t been made to feel so unwelcome.
I very rarely leave negative reviews for any businesses but this experience was so uniquely bad that I felt compelled to. My friends and I all agreed that despite how enjoyable the wine was, we...
