Love this spot. A great two storey wooden structure with hidden sides to view the wetlands without spooking the birds. Plenty of spots to set up a camera and tripod easily - and there are bench seats and a roof for shelter.
Two touches I loved are the little signs on the walkway in giving a brief, fun introduction to the birds you (may) see - and their call is played when you spin the sign!
The other is the "bird Facebook" - a really clever set of Facebook posts written from each birds perspective. Amusing and informative.

   Read moreThe Reed Beds Bird Hide has a good turning circle and car parking area, clean toilets, a boardwalk with plaques showing different birds and explanations about those birds. There's also speakers on every plaque and when you spin the dozen or so plaques, you hear that particular bird's song through the speakers at the bottom - see photos. The Bird Hide was very good and would have cost loads to build but I thought the plaques with the songs of the birds being played for you to hear was very good too. We totally enjoyed our time here.    Read moreA hidden gem not far from the small town of Mathoura which has the big Cod and the Bra Fence. It's an easy board walk to the hide with these twisty placards of the various birds you can expect to see. When you twist the placards they make the bird sound. That was pretty cool. There are also free BBQs here as well.
There were no birds near the hide. They were all out on the marsh plain. We had fun snapping away at the pelicans. Well...
