The customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I made a booking request on the 23 Jan at 1.04pm for a 1 night stay on the 25 Jan for 6 people as there was 5 available sites left for camping. Please note that online, the minimum night stay policy is 1 night, so we were not breaching the night stay policy. So I went ahead and booked a site for myself and 5 others. Excited about the stay, we bought camping equipment and were looking forward to the trip. I found it strange that the host Gary had not responded to the booking. This morning 24 Jan at 8.36am I sent a message on Hipcamp to Gary, at 8.58am Gary responded bluntly with “sorry we are not offering 1 night stays for long weekend’ (Note. This is not advertised online at all). Frustrated I tried to call the contact number twice, the second time I received a text message from Glenda advising to leave a message of what I wanted. I explained the situation via text message to which I received a text response over 1 and half hours later saying “The platform will refund you..it is not our site”. I queried about the one night stay policy as it advertises online that the minimum night stay is one night, which we had booked. I received a text message to say “we are totally full”. This contradicted the website which stated they had 4 available sites , I sent images off the website to prove this. They then responded saying that they have lots of people who book so sites are not available, contradicting the information in which they advertise online. My partner also messaged, to which he was told there are other sites to look at, when he asked what sites they were referring to he was told “type into google”. Throughout all this they left my booking as "Pending", refusing to even acknowledge it.

We were given two different excuses

Shocking customer service, and from the Google reviews I have read, it appears I am not the first to have received this appalling service. Please be mindful when booking this camp site that they will not help you at all. A very lazy host who does not care for his...

It has been years since my horrible, depression inducing, experience at Megalong Valley Farm and I am still so upset that I thought it was time to write a review (My booking was for Sunday 12 February 2017 for reference). I purchased, through Red Balloon, this as a surprise for my partner at the time for our 3rd Valentine’s Day together and so we drove the two and a bit hours from Sydney to the farm ready to surprise him with a romantic Horse Riding and Private Picnic experience. Only to find out that the experience had been cancelled with no email, call or any form of communication due to some potential bush fire hazards. Now, to make things clearer, we were not the only couple that showed up on the day! So clearly, we didn't miss a memo. However, we were completely understanding, albeit a bit frustrated regardless of the lack of communication due to mother nature doing her thing. We were told that we would be contacted to reschedule the booking BUT we never heard from them ever again! Now, my partner and I were fuming at this point. We followed up with an email and attempted to call many times but no one ever answered the phone and we never heard a peep from our email. Additionally, our experience was marked as completed through Red Balloon. So, all in all, I lost $200 in the cost of the experience AND almost a full tank of fuel PLUS this triggered so much anxiety, made me depressed and completely ruined our Valentine’s Day. I can provide all of the booking details and email correspondence PLUS the Red Balloon invoice for verification if required but really, this has lingered for so long that I just wanted to share my experience and be...

Would not recommend this place at all. I have been riding for awhile now. With days out and packages and this was the worst place ever. We had a terrible time here. First off when we got there they had a sign saying "some horses do not have any teeth but it is ok" . Then our ride was late. We decided to stay as we travelled up from Sydney for the day. When it was our time to head out we were told to just get on a horse. The horses that were there where the ones that just came back after been out for 2 hours. So they got no break at all. In the scorching heat as all this happened in Jan 2014. (In all the places I have gone riding they normally would match you with a horse that suits your height and riding ability) When we were heading out the horse my sister was on was back out that day after been sidelined for some reason. Half way through her horse got spooked and as the reins were to short she was thrown off the horse and ended up wrapped around a tree. There was a man and his son on our ride also. I jumped from my horse to get to her and so did my partner and my sister husband. The man and the kid also came off. The instructor left us alone to go get help. When the manager arrived they wanted to move her to the truck. But as u can imagine we all said no as she had done serious injury to her back. When the ambulance arrived they told us this was not the first time it happened. We asked the manager to refund the man and kid and they refused saying it was not there fault the horse got spooked. My sister spent time in hospital afterwards due to injury. I WOULD WARN EVERYONE TO STAY AWAY...

We camped here for 3 nights, and honestly, given the price, we were expecting more. The place clearly lacks care and attention. The road leading to the campsite is supposedly accessible by 2WD cars, but it has large, long-standing holes that have clearly been there for a while (it hasn’t rained in some time, so weather can't be blamed). Unfortunately, can't really understand from the photos. While we don’t have dogs, there’s a sign saying "dogs only on leash," which is what most guests followed. However, the owner's dogs were not on a leash and were disturbing other guests, which was frustrating. The toilets and showers were not up to par either. I understand that this is not a caravan park, but given the price, we expected better. They were quite unpleasant and not well-kept. I even saw the lady cleaning the restrooms one day with dirty water that had been left out all day. Is that hygienic? Definitely not the standard we were expecting. Another issue was the communication. At the entrance and in the restrooms, there are arrogant signs telling you what to do, and what not to do, which is not the kind of message guests want to receive. After reading some responses to reviews, it's clear that the management doesn't know how to communicate properly and doesn’t understand what hospitality is all about. We booked through hipcamp and they added a phone number in case on necessity - that number doesn't work. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

We had a wonderful time camping here over the Queens birthday long weekend. Plenty of space for our group and still accessible to the amenity block. There are 3 toilets and 3 showers available for each gender. So expect queues if it's a busy period. No power is available with limited clean water available. Bring your drinking water as the water supplied is brown and has floaters. Great Campsite, but be wary of all the animal droppings as the horses wander around camp and do their business. Suitable for all vehicles, but just be careful as the road from the entrance to campsites are dirt roads which can get quite rough and bumpy. Winter camping can be very cold so be prepared for some frosty mornings.

I and my friends had the most lovely weekend at megalong valley farm! The location is perfect for hiking and spending some quiet time away. The owners were super welcoming and kind, they gave us bread to feed the gorgeous animals they have and even helped me jump start my car! As a young female going camping can be scary, I felt extremely safe here! Especially with their amazing dog Boz! I and all the campers adored Boz! The views from the farm are gorgeous. My only concern would be the gravel road leading up to the camp sight. Overall I’m definitely looking forward to coming back and camping here (and to see Boz!!)
