If you are visiting Melbourne (or live in Melbourne like us) and haven't been here, you must! It's 1000 times better than walking through a zoo, you are surrounded by thousands of sleeping yet at times noisy flying foxes living in the many trees along the banks of the beautiful Yarra River. The first lookout will take your breath away and as you walk further along the path the many families of bats are in the trees right above your head. It is really incredible and brought much joy to children and adults alike. It is a little steep and you probably not so easy to take a pram (definitely not wheelchair accessible - except for the platform to the first look out). Highly recommend visiting! I still can't believe that this exists so close to the centre...

This place is amazing. There is a gorgeous river here, perfect for kayaking along. But what makes this spot so perfect is the sprawling picnic grounds, surrounded by native forest full of fruit bats! Hundreds & hundreds of them! They are mainly located on the other side of the river so you can watch them without getting covered in guano. There are plenty this side of the river too though if you want to risk the guano to get close and see their gorgeous little babies! Toilets, a big car park (with walks to the famous bridge and through the native forest), amazing picnic area and a viewing platform to see gorgeous native bats - what more could...

I absolutely love Bellbird Park, it's been local to me for years. If not for the way it's being run down in recent years it would receive a 5 star. So Very sad and disappointing that Parks Victoria are neglecting to maintain our valuable boat landing for all the enthusiastic families and others who live to paddle kayaks, canoes etc from there Between the seemingly deliberate destruction of a long running and important facility to the lack of lawn maintenavce in the vicinity it would appear that the plan is to delete the ramp and people from accessing such a valuable, health enabling water access. Very...

Bellbird is playing a direct role in the preservation of the ancient keystone pollinating Grey-headed flying foxes. It is a typical Australia whole-of-life-cycle flying fox camp. It'll better when Parks Vic close the gates at night to ensure the park isn't damaged or misused by miscreants of which Melbourne unhappily has its fair share. Rubbish dumping and unspeakable things are left for Parks staff and volunteers to clean up. Also it will be nice when the public toilets are no longer a sex "beat" and drug sale location for men and are safe for normal members of the public.

It’s a right treasure trove for nature lovers, where ye can spot all sorts of critters—birds, insects, foxes, lizards, and even bats! There’s always parking, and it’s just a wee jaunt to see the bats flappin’ about with their wee bonnie babies. Folks really need to be pickin up after their dogs though, it’s like a fly convention out there. I thought I heard a bee hive swarm on me walk but it was a convention of flies feastin on a hot turd, fresh off the press! If you can dodge the stinkin’ brown landmines then make sure yer visit.
