It is stunning no doubt but for the first time - it can be quite a challenge although I drive fairly regularly in Dandenong ranges. Keep your eyes peeled & stay the course. For a mini version of this - try Monbulk Rd - Olinda/Monbulk Rd to Kallista & Sherbrooke.

I did pull into Slow Drivers Turnoff (use this for taking pics) a few times to let others pass even though I pretty much adhered to speed limits & my auto gear was on D2 for the drive. But obviously - it is never going to please speed freak locals. I deliberately picked a weekday off peak hoping to enjoy the drive.

There has been nasty accidents as recently as mid May 2021 that forced road closure - why then the 80 km limits? You see this upper limit & immediately within 500 metres you see another yellow sign recommending 45 kms or...

A slow drive to enjoy the scene on both side of the road. It's a pity that there are not many "strategic" places on the sides of the road to stop for more photos. Hopefully the council can do something about that. I have seen a group of people just parked their big ute on a narrow stripe on the side and walked along ON the narrow road to take photos. It was dangerous as the road is twist and turn, and the other drivers may not see them to stop or avoid them. I would suggest that best to park on the few road sides that are wide enough and safe to take photos, and not walk...

Amazing scenic drive if you want to take a detour from Healesville. The road is busy, zigzagging, and 80km speed limit, so unlucky for the driver. As for the passenger, you're in for a treat. Sky high trees and beautiful ferns line both side of the road as if you're going through the rainforest. It takes about 15 minutes to get through the best part of Black Spur Drive before we reached a rest stop where we made a U-turn back to Healesville to enjoy the scenery for the...
