This place is a treasure hiding in plain sight in Box Hill! I must have passed it so many times over the years and never noticed it. As a family man it's something I knew my son would love and he had a great time. The staff were all lovely, had a good chat whole waiting to depart and shared a few jokes. The setup is pretty cool and is like a miniature scenic route. The ride lasted 9 mins which for the price we paid is dirt cheap, so great value for money. They have a few different types of trains there too which makes it fun for the kids to see them all. Parking was pretty easy even when busy, just go around the back and there's plenty of space. They're located right next to Elgar Oval so I got to take my son for a run around there afterwards. If you've got a young family and live in the South East then this...

This place couldn't organise their way out of a paper bag. Got told several different start times, and after waiting over an hour, they delay the start time further, till past my child's nap time. If I had been told the correct information at 9.30am, I wouldn't have wasted my entire Sunday morning. Oh and the ticket guy is a grumpy bugger. Absolutely no reason to go to this joke when Diamond Valley Mini Rail is just down the road. Ad i didn't waste the $650 i was going to by booking a party here. They'd probably mess up the dates they are that...

Today my two children went on this minature rail and were burned by the falling debris/ash from the steam train. The drivers couldn't hear them crying and calling to stop and the ash kept falling on them. Despite being shielded by the grown ups supervising them, they ended up with over 10 burns that were deep enough to blister. The driver was not sympathetic when informed at the completion of the ride and merely stated that there was a warning sign to beware of falling debris. This ride is not safe...

If you’ve got (little) train lovers in the family, this is a must-do! The Box Hill Miniature Railway is a fun, budget-friendly day out. Rides are just $4 each, and with plenty of trains running, the wait time is usually only 5-10 minutes. The railway operates every 3rd Sunday of the month, but it’s best to check their website or socials for up-to-date info. It’s a little quieter than the popular Diamond Valley Railway in Eltham, but just as charming! Looking for more train fun? Check out the mini trains at Eltham,Springvale, Bulla, and Portarlington too! 📍 Box Hill Miniature Railway, Corner of Elgar & Belmore Rd, Mont Albert North VIC 3129 #boxhillminiaturerailway #familyfun #thingstodowithkids #melbournekids #miniaturerailway #explorevictoria #dayoutwiththekids #melbournetodo #traintok #trainlovers #melbournekidsevents #familydayout #whattodoinmelbourne #trainlovers #traintok

📍 Corner of Elgar & Belmore Rd, Mont Albert North VIC 3129 Be quick! Open today Sunday 8 Dec until 4pm and the next session isn’t until January 19 from 11am to 4pm. Hop on for a ride around this charming miniature railway. It’s just $4 per ride, and the wait times aren’t long at all.
