A Fantastic Spot for Training, Walking & Relaxing

I recently visited Brimbank Park as part of a Spartan pre-training session, and it was the perfect location to organise an outdoor workout. The park offers expansive open spaces, well-maintained trails, and plenty of shade, making it an excellent choice for both fitness enthusiasts and families.

Clean and Well-Maintained Facilities One thing I really appreciated was the well-kept restrooms—they were clean, accessible, and conveniently located, which is always a plus when spending time outdoors.

A Great Café to Recharge After our training session, we stopped by Lumber & Co. the park’s on-site café, and it was a great addition to the experience. The coffee was excellent, and the food options were fresh and delicious. Whether you need a post-walk snack or just a place to relax, it’s a fantastic spot to sit and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Scenic and Easy-to-Walk Trails The footpaths and walking trails are well-maintained, making them ideal for a relaxing stroll, a brisk walk, or even a scenic bike ride. The trails are wide, easy to navigate, and offer stunning views of the Maribyrnong River. Whether you're out for a casual walk, training, or riding a bike, the park provides a beautiful and peaceful setting.

Plenty of Parking and Accessibility Parking is never an issue here—there are multiple parking areas spread across the park, making it easy to find a spot close to your preferred entry point. This convenience makes the park very accessible for visitors of all ages.

Beautiful Mature Trees and Relaxation Areas One of the best things about Brimbank Park is the lush, mature trees that provide plenty of shade. There are numerous picnic tables, benches, and open spaces, making it the perfect place for a picnic, a quiet moment of relaxation, or a gathering with friends and family.

A Must-Visit Outdoor Space Overall, Brimbank Park is a gem. Whether you’re there for training, walking, cycling, or just unwinding in nature, it has everything you need for a great outdoor experience. I love the mature trees, birds and people walking their dogs.

I’ll...

This Park offers all sorts of activities ranging from the family picnic to walks, cycling, jogging, informal sports, playgrounds and eatery. there are large spaces for activities and shelters for picnics if needed. Heaps of Parking spaces divided into 3 section Parking A, B & C which provides different views and directions to walk. This can be best for a long walk and hiking. Nothing is very amazing but a huge lush green area. If accessing by car, the park is 15km north-west of Melbourne. Follow the Calder Freeway to Keilor Park Drive exit. After 500m turn right into the park. The gates open at 8:30am daily and close at 5pm (or 8pm during daylight savings). From the entrance to the Parks Office, there's a way to your cleared out. Turn right onto this way to begin your walk. The way winds around and down to the riverside. Keep your eyes and ears open to all the movement along the stream banks. Head straight through the primary intersection you meet and keep on this way because it takes after the waterway around a twist.

At the another intersection you meet, turn right towards the waterway. As the way crosses the stream you're treated to brilliant waterway sees some time recently a brief climb that brings you to a little bridge across the river. Within the early evening you might spot a water rodent chasing for its supper. Take after the way past an power arch and down to the rivulet. Common Reed and Cumbungi are in wealth. Turn right at the following intersection.

At the following intersection the walk turns cleared out and climbs up to the edge of the stop, on the off chance that you'd or maybe avoid a climb, you'll keep right here and return to the café. The way presently plunges back down, taking after the inverse side of the waterway. You cross another huge passage, with more openings to spot a few of the park's copious birdlife, some time recently at last returning back...

Great parklands, has 100's of car parks in different locations of the park so you can enjoy different parts or the reserve without straying too far from your car. Some features are: toilets, bbq areas, playgrounds, ovals, tables and chairs both in open spaces and undercover. Has easy walks and challenging walks. Has a cafe next to car park A, right near a playground with different types of swings for the kids (or adults). Has a park run, starting point not far behing the cafe after leaving the car park. Was previously a farmsted and has an old farm cottage still on the reservelands that you can look on at from the fence. A very interesting place and worth a look with a sign telling you of the areas history. The Marbinong river runs alongside the reserve and has 2 river-level crossings to walk over. There is a trail that also runs along the river that can be followed all the way I'm guessing until it reaches the Yarra. I know it is 13kms along the river track until it reaches Poyntons Nursery (one way) as per google maps.

Reservelands is gated for car access, currently gates open 6am and...
