Dingo Discovery Sanctuary, Research and Education Centre — Attraction in Melbourne

We had such an amazing afternoon at one of the Puppy Encounters sessions. Before we met the puppies, the passionate volunteers (and Pumba the dingo) gave such an engaging and informative presentation about dingoes and the sanctuary's awesome work to protect them. Then the puppies were unleashed on us, and armed with a little dry food, we were treated to about 30mins of licks and pats and pure unadulterated joy. We then had a quick tour to meet the younger 6-week old puppies and the other dingoes in the centre, before being offered a bbq and drinks overlooking their magnificent view. We went here with the intention of just swinging by for a look, expecting something dull or disappointing. Instead, we got an unforgettable experience meeting, playing with, feeding and learning all out dingoes.

The sanctuary is incredibly up to scratch and brilliantly maintained, the animals are very happy and clearly well looked after, and the lovely lady who gave us our tour was very knowledgable and kind. She ensured we had a great time and taught us a lot. We have a new and keen appreciation for these beautiful animals and were happy to pay the $30AUD fee per head for such a great day...

We were so excited for our visit today and our experience exceeded our expectations by far. The Sanctuary is run by such passionate volunteers who really care about providing the best possible care to our native animals and educating the community about them. Fees for the tour go to supporting the dingoes - it is already well worth it but it is a good cause too. I learned so much today and loved every minute of our tour.
