Elmswood Estate — Attraction in Melbourne

This place deserves 0 stars. Went there for high tea today with my husband and toddler. The food was bad and service was beyond awful.

When we were seated, we enquired whether the savoury options were halal. Jeannie who was serving us (barely) straightaway gets into defensive mode and notes ‘you never mentioned your dietary requirement when you made the booking’. I said that’s fine, there was no access to a menu online as to what would be served for high tea which is why we enquired in person. I then asked her ‘do you have any vegetarian options’ to which again she very rudely responded, ‘these platters are pre prepared so we can’t arrange vegetarian options.’ I wanted to have a pleasant experience with my family so I just brushed it off. Jeannie crossed the line when my 2 year old felt like a snack - I proceeded to open a small travel pack of cheese and crackers to which she said ‘you can’t have outside food’. I responded, ‘but this is for my son whilst we wait for his food’. She once again reiterated that he couldn’t eat it. Which heartless person prevents a baby from having his afternoon snack? I had the pleasure of attending a wedding at a venue hosted by Melbourne Event Group, and I was absolutely blown away! The vineyard views were breathtaking and created the most magical atmosphere for the celebration.

The catering was phenomenal—every dish was delicious, beautifully presented, and clearly prepared with care. The event coordination was seamless; everything flowed perfectly from the ceremony to the reception, making it a truly enjoyable experience for all the guests.

What stood out most was the incredible staff. They were attentive, friendly, and made sure everyone felt well taken care of throughout the evening. Their professionalism and warmth added a special touch to an already amazing event.

We were given a voucher for a high tea at Elmswood Estate by our daughter and we cannot recommend the setting, food and beverages highly enough. The high tea was fresh, delicious and plentiful. Presentation was superb and the accompanying sparkling and pots of tea were fabulous. We ended up buying two bottles of the Elmswood Estate sparkling as it was just so good. We appreciated the expertise of John whose knowledge about the wines at Elmswood added to our overall memorable experience. Finally, if you are looking for a relaxing, tranquil setting in which to savour the fine food and wine, then the peaceful gardens or the deck with outdoor umbrellas are perfect. Even if the weather is not so good, there is ample seating indoors and undercover. Thank you to Elmswood Estate for a memorable afternoon. We will be back with overseas...
