Fingal Beach is a wonderful escape from the city. The walk down to the beach can take up to 30 min but it's really beautiful.

Keep in mind you'll need to walk up a lot of stairs up, something like 400 steps, on the way back, so a bit of fitness is required. If you’re willing to climb a bunch of steps, it’s totally worth it. The climb back up is definitely the harder part. There are some lookouts along the way that give awesome views over the ocean and cliffs, which are great for stopping and catching your breath.

The beach itself is kind of rugged which has a mix of sand, rocks and cliffs. It’s not patrolled, so swimming is risky, especially if waves are rough. The waves do look good for surfing but you really got to have some experience as the current are really strong and you are far away from any help.

However if all you're after is a quiet stroll along the beach, laying down and enjoying the sound of the sea, this is a very relaxing spot for that. The coastal walking tracks around are lovely with nice scenery and local fauna.

Facilities are okay. There is a picnic area with tables and bbq stuff at the top. There are toilets and a place to rest before tackling the stairs. There's no food in the area so make sure you bring supplies and extra bags to take gargabe on the way out.

Good shoes is recommended for the long walk down to the beach. I did them in havianas and i've seen some people do that too, but for the majority of people i'd recommend something more sturdy.

There's some parts where you can trip if you're not paying attention. Bring water as you may spend longer than you think. This beach is nice in any season.

Overall, for someone who wants a mix of walking, scenery, beach, and doesn’t mind a workout, Fingal Beach is a gem. Not the easiest, but...

In a nutshell, the walk is not worth it.

We walked from Fingal carpark to Fingal Beach which is about 2 km of walk. The walk itself is not scenic at all. However, the first look out view is beautiful. The last stretch of 0.8 km down to the beach is not pleasant at all, esp when you are returning back. There are 427 steep steps that really tired us out.

The beach itself is not pretty in comparison to other beaches nearby. It is a small beach with lots of bio debris (sea weeds and shells). And definitely not suitable...

The 700 steps down to the beach can be a challenging journey. It takes about 40 minutes if you're fit, so keep that in mind. The beach itself is small but lovely.

However, the rip is strong and swimming is not recommended unless you're very experienced.

It was worth the hike down from Pines Parking to see the stunning rock pools with various little creatures living in them. The rocky bits provided a unique...

Great lookout. You can see all the way to Point Nepean and beyond. Pretty steep walk down to the beach via Sandy and partly overgrown path. About a 5km round trip. But we'll worth it. Rugged rocky and isolated beach. Great rock pools at low tide and you can also walk to Gunnamatta beach at low tide.

Such a beautiful beach even though we went there on a freezing and windy day. The beach literally blew us away 😆 we were able to walk on the rocky bits to get to the rock pools which were stunning so many little animals and anemone living there - so cute!! Was worth the hike down from Pines Parking
