Olinda Falls is a beautiful natural spot located in the Dandenong Ranges, perfect for a peaceful walk and a quick escape into nature. The walking tracks leading to the falls are well marked and surrounded by tall trees, ferns, and the calming sounds of native birds. The walk is not too difficult, making it suitable for families, although there are some stairs on the way. Once you arrive at the falls, the view is very refreshing, especially after some rainfall when the water flow is stronger. The area has viewing platforms that allow you to enjoy the falls from different angles, and the shade from the forest makes it a pleasant place to sit and relax for a while. There are also picnic spots nearby, so it is easy to combine the walk with a nice outdoor meal. Even though the falls are not the biggest in Victoria, the atmosphere and surrounding nature make Olinda Falls a wonderful place to visit for anyone who enjoys hiking, photography, or simply spending time in a...
Read moreA great walk and not too exhausting, a few sore buttock muscles were complaining though the next day, due to unfamiliar high steps to overcome when getting back up from the falls before starting our quest the 'trunk challenge'. There are 2 fallen trees overarching the creek when you head on the track leading to the mechanics track. Also, you can do a leap of faith and I am sure you will be impressed how entertaining this can be for the kids while being thrilled of potentially falling down into the gorge or managing to stand on the trunk and get to the other end and back. Ever seen how much dirt a really big tree can pull up and out of the earth. You will be amazed. All I can say is: '/Don't be afraid and give it a shot, it will boost everyone's self esteem and being up the pulse and excitement in you, not wondering or worrying about the damn city live we have compared to this short stint of an...
Read moreWe walked down from the Mount Dandenong Pre school through the bush tracks paralleling the Olinda creek. As young(ish) and fit it was a lovely walk through the bracken, ferns and tall gum trees however was very muddy and slippery (don’t wear your fashionista sister runners!). As a guy who loves hiking it was fine for me albeit steep in the last 140m to the base of the falls. The kids and wife got through it but we walked back up the falls road to the church and back up for 14 mins to the car. I wouldn’t recommend the entire track for the older or those who haven’t walked off a footpath before. The car park is convenient with a small 300m walk to the top of the falls which is beautiful. Well done too to the people and park rangers who have keep this area clean given the amount of...
