10/10 Experience – Worth Every Cent!
Thankyou to the person who gifted us this experience. The Funky Farm is hands down one of the best family afternoons we've had out in a long time. It's not your typical crowded, commercialised farm. From the moment we arrived, the experience was completely hands on and personal, with such small group sizes that you truly get to enjoy every moment without feeling rushed or crowded.
The animals are clearly happy, relaxed and well cared for. Their enclosures are clean and with recycled materials used all around the farm you can really tell sustainability and animal welfare are top priorities here. What stood out the most was that the animals aren't forced to interact, they genuinely seem to enjoy the company and if they don't feel like it, they're simply left in peace. That respect makes the whole experience feel good.
We took our 9 year old, 6 year old, 3 year old and even our 4 month old and the timing was perfect. Long enough to see and do so much, but not so long that the kids started to get restless. Everyone was engaged the whole way through.
Our 4 year old has a rare genetic condition, has already undergone two open heart surgeries and faces many challenges with more to come in the future. Knowing that The Funky Farm also has wonderful programs for people with disabilities and that it was originally created with this community in mind, made the experience even more meaningful to us as a family. It's so clear they are inclusive, passionate and genuinely care about providing a positive and fun space for everyone. Supporting a business with such a big heart feels right.
Chris, our host, was absolutely fantastic. Knowledgeable, entertaining and able to share information about each animal in a way that was both educational and interesting. It honestly felt like having a friend show you around their farm. I especially loved that they took the time to make sure families got photos with the animals, something other places charge a small fortune for which is just not feasible for alot of larger families like ours.. It's a thoughtful touch.
If you're looking for something unique, personal, and truly unforgettable, The Funky Farm is it. We absolutely loved it and can't recommend it enough. A perfect experience for families...
Read moreAmazingly inclusive day out at the Funky Farm -HIGHLY recommend to all! Even if you’ve been before, the Funky Farm is a perfect place to visit regularly! Their staff have a wealth of knowledge and there’s always something new to learn or different to see and experience!
Today, whilst my family and friends were on tour (learning lots, interacting with the animals and having a brilliant time), my 8yo Autistic/PDA daughter was having a panic attack in the car. She loves animals but just couldn’t get out of the car and was extremely dysregulated.
Chris, the owner, saw her distress and worked SO hard to support her! He even came and sat in the car with Guy, a 12mo wallaby, to gently support her transition!
He gave us access to the private area, allowed us to walk around on our own so she wasn’t overwhelmed, avoided eye contact with her, didn’t tell her what to do, and gave her lots of time (SO patient!) and space!
Once she was more comfortable, he signalled to me to check if it was okay to open the pen for her to go and see the wallaby. Not only did she feed him, she even got to cuddle him! Chris then took her over to measure out feed for the ponies and even had her laughing with his jokes! Not to mention that when we arrived and they saw our disabled parking permit they immediately directed us to park right up at the front, well beyond the main car park! Every minor detail was carefully considered. We were even offered a mobility scooter, which we declined, but wow!
The Funky Farm is the most wonderful place! A challenging morning, which had me on the brink of tears, was utterly saved and became the highly of my week, possibly my whole year, thanks to the incredible team and beautiful animals at the Funky Farm! They are amazingly inclusive on every single level!
It was also fabulous to hear about all the truly brilliant and empowering programs they’re running as part of the Mornington Peninsula Wildlife Project!
If there’s one place you go on the peninsula, make it the Funky Farm! You will not be...
Read moreAfter reading all the positive reviews, we thought we had to try it out especially being bookings only, I thought it would be a must try, safe to say, it was 100% worth it.
Not as big as other sanctuary's but definitely one of the best we've been so far.
Very hands on, very informative on the animals, most of the animals were unwanted pets and they have been looking after them.
Also they are building a new area for the animals that require a bigger space.
Heaps of opportunity to take photos and touch/pet them.
We also met Bronco the training therapy dog.
Got to feed wallabies, pet lizard/dragon + snake and hold it.
Was unfortunate that we could not have the emu interaction due to the breeding time, but hopefully back next time when its not breeding season.
They’ve also made the place wheel chair accessible to be able to see all the animals as well as made a 12 week course for special needs adults and teaches them skills that will hopefully help them in the future
Thank you Chris (the comedian that didnt make it) + Sam for the experience. Will recommend to friends and...
