Jan 19th, 2020 - in the evening for dinner
Worst Service at "The Bistro". We are sorry to have wasted our money and time there due to the people working the floor. :(
My family and I ordered 3 meals. My daughter (as most kids do), did not eat her food & only ate about 2 bites. She wasn't hungry just yet by the time the rest of us finished, so we asked for a 'take-away' container from one of the chefs who happened to be on the other side of the hot food station. He was gladly going to give it to us until a 'Waiter/Busser' came over and stopped him.
That's when the trouble started.
When anyone goes to a restaurant and orders food... and paid for it... it is LEGALLY theirs to take home. Especially if it has barely been touched. But a waiter who was standing by kept insisting we weren't allowed due to a policy I've heard of before. Although IMHO no restaurant should do that - regarding kid's meals especially, if a meal has been paid for. What was funny is the place DID actually have take-away containers. Why would they have take-away containers if we aren't allowed to take away food that we've purchased??? lol. I mean seriously? Makes no sense at all.
Anyway, I asked to talk with the manager and the waiter/busser seemed to rush to give his story first before he got into trouble. I've worked w/people like him (a stickler for the rules) in the past. And they take their job a little bit too seriously. The waiter obviously doesn't have any children and has no idea of the issues that parents deal with.
Anyhow, I let them know clearly that I'd leave this comment here if they didn't let me take the food home that we paid for. And so I am. I wouldn't recommend this restaurant for anyone to go to under any circumstances ESPECIALLY if you have kids who are nit-picky about eating food right-away or you will be wasting your money. Or if you do, simply bring your own containers to place in yourself.
In the end, what I assume was one of the female managers DID in fact let us take home the food - but this was after we put up a stink about it. AND... they wouldn't let us do it ourselves... and took it to the back. So who knows if they spat in it or not?? Which is why I AM leaving this bad review. Otherwise, I wouldn't have left one at all.
Everyone was annoyed by this point so we wanted to at least see them place it in the container... which they wouldn't allow. So even though they let us take it home, we just couldn't trust it so we still wasted our money since the food went out of our sight.
Grant it, I myself could've acted nicer & handled it a bit differently. As, I wanted to remember the guy's name and tried to take a photo of him... so I could remember his name from his name tag. But he exploded in anger and took a lot of offense at my attempt to take the photo. The truth is, the photo didn't even turn out.
Either way, these people are something else. Over-the-top. I used to work at restaurants at Universal Studios Orlando & Disney World in Orlando, Florida and I know what good-service is... and I'm sorry... but this wasn't it.
I will give props to all the chefs in the kitchen though! Chef Charminda was the sweetest guy ever and his crew too. They were kind-hearted, didn't give us any problems and were trying to be considerate, understanding & even apologized on behalf of the manager & the waiter.
So, we aren't slamming this place completely. I just think they really need to help the management learn better PR skills. Maybe the owner can filter out the bad ones? I don't know. Sorry for the long review. Just stating the facts.
The manager even followed us out to the front door as if we were drunk trouble makers. He was pointing at us motioning to the receptionists which I assume was to ban us. My husband turned around & asked him, "Why are you following us?" The receptionists obviously had enough intelligence to know that this was a very minor situation & we didn't need escorting out. My husband even told the ladies that all we wanted was a take-away container for our daughter's meal & they...
Read moreCame up for a golf weekend recently, decided not to stay at the club, but in Echuca. Booked my rounds in advance to ensure I got the times I wanted and could play both courses. I expressed interest to play in club comps but ultimately wasn’t able to. Guy in pro shop said there was limited ability for visitors to play in comps, but looking at changing this to increase opportunities. Upon checking in for my first round at the pro shop I had a slightly difficult and negative experience utilising my reciprocal rights for discounted green fees. I’d confirmed this in advance over the phone, however the staff member in the pro shop was adamant I wasn’t entitled. I ended up paying the discounted rate after some discussion and checking of the website, however the staff member was a bit rude about it all. This gave a bad first impression, so instead of staying after the round for food and drinks at the club I left and went elsewhere. I contacted the club via their webpage contact form to detail my experience, however received no response or even acknowledgement from them. Aside from this, I enjoyed my rounds on both courses. I was playing as a single and was paired with some friendly members and visitors, making for a great time. The courses were well maintained and challenging, however the greens were a little inconsistent, making it hard to judge speeds. Unfortunately, I’ll be looking at other Murray river resorts for my next golf trip, and won’t be able to recommend this resort to my fellow...
Read moreWe are from Melbourne and have never had the chance to visit Moama before. Rich River Golf club has such a great reputation of quality. So when we knew we were visiting Moama this weekend, I quickly made reservations for dinner there. We have our elderly parents with us, explaining this to the lady serving us, I asked wether their Pumpkin soup was spicy ? Hayley was unsure and went to find out with the chef. No was the answer so on that recommendation we ordered two bowls. We then ordered Medium cooked porterhouse Fillet steak, red wine sauce, steamed veg and fat chips. Crispy grilled salmon lemon and light pepper sauce on the side with steamed veg and chips . Outcome - Pumpkin soup was horrible. Bland, watery and slightly lumpy with a small chilli kick. It was not pleasant. I returned the soup and got my money back. Porterhouse steak was average but the red wine sauce was horrible, bitter burnt flavour which unfortunately was poured over the steak and spoiled the whole meal. Salmon was over cooked dry and cold. Both dishes -Steamed veg came out -cold and rubbery As did the chips.. . Honestly, It was one of the worst dishes I have ever experienced. I did let the waitress know and we won’t be going back. No money was returned. Very very...
