I’m quite unsure of how many stars to give. The young man who took us through the experience was divine, great energy, very patient and knowledgable - 5 stars for him. The experience in itself is cool but once you are swimming in the hole for 10 minutes you don’t need to be in there any longer - it’s very small and you cannot dive so you’ll just circle around the circumference with other 10 people or so for a whole hour. I also think it was very overpriced considering there isn’t much to see, it’s literally just a hole with water - 3 stars for the experience. I would recommend Ewens Ponds, where you can purchase an entrance for only 30/40$ and rent wetsuits for a reasonable price from the local newsagent. Very different experience as you get to see so much life underwater and you’ll be pretty much on your own through the whole experience. I also really really dislike that the main business of the owner of this hole is killing lambs for profit. I wish I knew before I invested my money because I would never have made a booking knowing this - 0 stars for this.

*editing to 1 star because of the owner's smartass response....

Unfortunately, we cannot recommend the Kilsby sinkhole. Firstly, it is too far to drive from Robe for an expensive experience at $100 per person to swim in a cold pool with no sea life except for a pet turtle that has been placed there. No jumping, no splashing, no duck diving and you can't swim within 1 meter of the edges. Just too many 'no's'. In contrast, Little Blue lake Sinkhole was just up the road and offered a free, friendly family vibe. You are free to jump and swim around, snorkel and duck dive the day away. Also, plenty of room for a BYO picnic for a memorable experience.

Thank you for the owners response. Another issue you obviously have is your record keeping abilities. I did attend and filled in a multiple page waiver form. Your reply is as abrupt as the service we received on the day. Nothing I have written is untrue. Your private sink hole is not worth the money or time for a visit and I will continue to share this opinion with the general public. Little Blue Sink hole is beautiful and clear, free and family friendly. Your defensive attitude is not a very friendly way of...

Craig & I had a fabulous time at Kilsby Sinkhole this week. What a sight! Met by Kristie, very friendly & down to earth staff member who we chatted to, throughout our time here.

Next owner Graham, it was a pleasure to meet you & hear the amazing history of the Sinkhole on your families property & your own history of growing up there. Learnt so much thank you, such a different experience for us city slickers!

We didn't snorkel and still loved it, but of course that would add another dimension again if you did!

Also having your Gin distillery too adds another dimension and Craig thoroughly enjoyed his tasting and purchase!

Lovely to catch you too Jo as we were leaving.

Do yourself a favour if you are in the area and pay them a visit, such a unique tour with friendly folk. Great value for money too especially as we were there about...

Due to volcanic activity here 5000 years ago! πŸŒ‹ This is our Australia bucketlist 17/100, we couldn't pick one so just went with the whole place (Mount Gambier) in the end πŸ˜… Fun fact about Little Blue Lake, we met divers while there and guess whats at the bottom? Would you swim here?πŸ“ Kilsby Sinkhole, SA. Info below πŸ‘‡ Privately owned by the Kilsby family @kilsbysinkhole - with an interesting history involving the American army! You can arrange to: - PADI Dive it - Freedive (registered only) - Or book in ($99 AUD) to snorkel with all equipment including 7mm wetsuits - Or its $15 for a history walk through. BTW it's beautiful this time of year. Don't let the weather fool you. The permanent temperature in the sinkhole is 15 degrees ish! It's such a fascinating place. Have you been before? 😊 . . . #kilsbysinkhole #sinkhole #australiabucketlist #travelaustralia #southaustralia #visitsouthaustralia
