Stunning Scenery, would rate the difficulty as average. It was lengthy and there are plenty of places to trip over or twist your ankle but nothing too exposed or to be worried about. While the forecast for the day we went merely said cloudy, the clouds themselves were at the same height at the summit and so for one the view was completely obscured at the top. On top of that there was sporadic rainfall which made everything all the more muddy and slippery on the chain climb up. Would definitely recommend bringing a change of clothes after this. Others said you'd need a jacket up top but since you're working pretty hard to get there, as long as you're not up there early morning or for too long you'd be alright.

All in all would recommend, just would suggest you ensure the weather is clear so clouds don't...

The track needed cutting as the vegetation limited the width of the path in a lot of places. Of more concern was the missing infill barrier section on one of the summit lookout/viewing platforms. A child could have easily walked off the platform and fallen a few metres to the ground (and then tumbled further through the scrub...). While I'm aware that my visit coincided with the end of the school holidays, and this is a popular Park, it didn't appear that Rangers had visited to do any maintenance or tidying up of rubbish along the track and under the viewing platforms for some time. Graffiti on most signs was also in evidence and further demonstrated that the Park and its infrastructure was a bit neglected. My biggest regret after completing this walk was that I didn't have a bag to carry out other...

The best climb I've ever experienced. I'm a bigger lass and this took me 5 hours to get up and 2 hours to get down. It's well worth it. Pack a torchlight in case. Relatively safe path, please wear shoes with good grip and tread. Absolutely gorgeous views!!! Please take your trash with you!! It was unfortunate to see so much toilet paper, food and drink items littering the mountain. Respect the wildlife. Pack snacks, water and an extra jacket. Completed decent after dark it was very difficult without light. No regrats :)

A year later and we made the summit gorgeous views from up there. Did the climb up and down incl summit in less time than I...

Amazing walk. I try to go every time I visit the GC. Its a tough start with the first km taking your breath away with all the stairs, but then you can really set a pace and enjoy the walk. It took us 1hr 20mins up on a cold rainy day, but we regularly train for this particular type of exercise. No view this time (too rainy!) but it was still breathtaking at the top amongst the clouds. Usually the view is STUNNING. 3 hour round trip for us. Take gloves to help you up the chain at the end if you can. Its quite a long, steep chained section- be VERY careful coming down.
