A historical structure for Western Australia. The weir is well-kept for the public. The views are tranquil. There are a couple of car parks, the northern park requires some walking through bush to access the weir, but there are also two parks adjacent to the weir crossing. Access is great for all. Some access gates close at 4:00 pm, and some at 5:00 pm. There is a dining location on the North side as well as an art gallery. This is a pleasant place to spend an hour or two.

If you're a visitor to Perth and you've got a car with a full tank, then you should mosey your way to Mundaring and spend a few hours here even if you're just passing by. The drive to Mundaring to the East Perth is sickeningly pleasant bar the weather, and it's one of the most underrated body of water to visit in town that is not a river or the beach. Make sure you lock the car door though, as it can be eerily quiet. Watch out for drop bears.

Fantastic place to go on a hike, with spectacular views of the weir from several points, all signposted well and google maps is accurate in the location as well. Recommend starting in a car park at one end of the high as to do a nice loop and get to see everything in the area. The ones south of the weir are good but are small so may fill up quickly - the one just north of the weir is quite good too and has park benches etc.

This is normally an excellent place to visit for a fun family day out, but be aware that you can't walk over the weir at the moment because of building works. It's still a good day out, though, as there's a whole range of things to do.

There are a few well signposted bush walks that start from near the craft centre opposite the Mundaring Weir. The CY O'Conner walk takes a couple of hours, goes through some beautiful areas and has some excellent views over the reservoir.

There are lots of shady spots for picnics and the Mundaring Weir hotel has huge sprawling beer garden and is normally filled with a child...
