Please be warned that Lake Crosbie is not a place to go because of the bees. My partner Mary and myself could not sit outside to enjoy a cup of tea without bees up our noses, mouths, food, and our van. We found other campers, who were hiding in their tents because of the bees, had used repellent which only worked for 15 minutes. Mary has a slight allergy to bees stings so it was very worrying. There was no point in staying, we were being swarmed so after an hour we left. Why isn't there a warning on the website about the bees? it would have saved us from driving 100 km out of our way to see the Lakes, which honestly, were not spectacular. This October had a huge wet down coming in, decent 4x4 only, next day dry as a bone, standard SUV's made it to Shearers hut! Excellent motorbike tracks to S.A boarder then along boarder track and cutting back to Shearers hut, about 3 hours, plenty to see there, accessible by bike only along boarder track, pretty narly.
