Great little walk for a pit stop to stretch the legs. Lots of steps at the start but after the initial climb it’s a pretty flat track. 2 hour round trip with a 4 year old (a bit slow on the way back) Lots of rest points and picnic tables along the track - but no tables at the car park. The walk was pleasant with information panels. The burning mountain itself was interesting to see - you could see heat waves and a few points with steam, one right at the viewing platform. The steam would become visible whenever a slight breeze would occur. Lots of kangaroos around and heaps of bird life. You can see some heat waves radiating from where the coal seam is burning. Maybe if you ventured up there as it was getting dark, you might see some flames or a nice glow. It's probably not a bad day out for an active family if you were to take a packed lunch with you as there are a couple of picnic tables along the trail.
⚠️ Caution: There is a strong smell of sulphur at the viewing platform that may affect those with...
