The disturbingly named 1080 Beach can be found at the end of the unmarked and unsealed 1080 Road in Mystery Bay, so probably best not to try this one in a standard car. It’s worth it once you get there though, as this is the beach to come to in the Mystery Bay area if the surf is too rough everywhere else. It has a protected south-facing hook sheltered by a rocky headland that is in itself a rock formation of great beauty. We chose to park in Mystery Bay and do the easy 2 km walk to 1080 beach, as we love the spotted gum forests which are endemic to the area, and a couple of short side trails to other beaches along the way.
