We visited Nambung National Park (specifically the Pinnacles) from Perth stopping the first day at Yanchep and spending the night at Lancellin. After vising the sand dune and the beach in the morning, we made our way to Nambung after lunch. We plan our timing to spend the evening at the Pinnacles and then the surrounding area and come back after sunset for stargazing and going back to Lancellin for the second night and make your way back to Perth fresh the following morning.

The Visitors Centre is a great place to start your visit and learn about these strange rock formations. From there you can either follow the footpath to the Pinnacles desert or return to your car and drive round to the site.

I would recommend coming back at night for stargazing it was awesome. The whole ares was so dark and minimal light pollution so very good place...

The Pinnacles are a pretty incredible visit, although it's hard to get photos without other people getting in the way! It's $15 entry per car, which seemed steep to me but the discovery centre and walkway etc was well maintained and there is a staffed gift shop there too. You can walk or drive through via a walking trail or a 4WD track, which is suitable for most 2WD cars anyway. Just no trailers or large motor homes - you'll need to detach the trailer in their long bays before entering if you drive through, you're likely to stop and get out of the car anyway to walk around + take photos. Allow approx 45mins to an hour...

I've been a few times over the years and not much has changed. The rocks are interesting and there are details about the formations in the small museum next to the tourist shop but it would benefit from plaques in the stopping points throughout the rocks, more details.from an indigenous and scientific perspective + a cafe you feel you can sit down for a coffee and snack/meal...

There's lots of parking but you don't feel you need to get out of your car for more than a few minutes and enjoy the location for more than the view 🤷‍♂️

I'd take your own roadtrip snacks and drinks, suntan lotion...

The View Point at Pinnacles Desert is an amazing destination that should not be missed. The unique rock formations create a surreal landscape, especially during sunset hours when the sky is painted in stunning hues. Watching the light change over the Pinnacles is a breathtaking experience. Afterward, head back to the walking platform outside the visitor center for some stargazing; the clear night sky offers a perfect backdrop for this relaxing activity. It’s a wonderful way to cap off your evening, surrounded by the beauty of nature. This place truly captures the magic of the Australian desert!
