We have stayed at Discovery Parks Narooma Beach quite a few times and had always loved our stays. Our last stay will definitely be our last though. The state of the cabin we stayed in was very disappointing: the floor looked a little dirty, so I was going to do a spot clean with disinfectant wipes. On first wipe, the wipe was black and the floor felt quite grimy - it took me around 1.5 hours to clean. there was a poo stain on the toilet seat there was a dirty toenail in one of the beds the top sheet of one of the other beds had what looked like a massive coffee stain on it All-in-all the cabin just felt dirty. I went to reception to politely speak to the staff about it all after we noticed the coffee stain on the sheet. The first lady I spoke to was really lovely. She called for who I believed to be management - first a man who kept mouthing a swear word under his breath. Then pretty much blaming the third party company who launders the sheets etc. Apparently they don't even look at the sheets when they return from being laundered. I was also told by him that he'd inspected the cabin before our arrival. The next lady who appeared to be the manager was quite frank and rude - blaming the third party launderer quite tersely and then snapping at me "Is there anything else?!" and "Call the after hours number if you have any other issues!" I was left dumbfounded by the service I'd received and quite disappointed that no accountability was taken nor any apology offered, instead blaming a third party. The man brought a clean sheet to the cabin and I showed him the wipes I'd used to clean the floor (they were black) and offered to replace my wipes, to which I declined. We also went for a swim in the pool later - the water felt greasy and it was filled with leaves. At least the next day we noticed all the leaves had been cleaned out. I called head office to make a formal complaint - I received a call from the regional manager over a week ago. I followed up yesterday - my call hasn't been returned and my complaint is yet to be resolved. A very disappointing experience at a park we once loved to visit and were really happy with prior. All-in-all this park is generally rundown as others have mentioned, the only real positive from our stay was the new playground which...
Read moreCommunication, or lack thereof really ruined our holiday experience. We used to go there as teenagers with our parents, decided to go back with our own child xmas 2021, had a great time, most importantly for us they allowed fires which for us makes the caravan park experience much more enjoyable, we also cook a lot over the coals. We decided to return for xmas 2022, & got 6 other families to join us this time. With one previous bad experience not long before in Bendigo I rang to check re fires, to be then told there was a change of ownership and no more fires, website still showed they did allow them and was the main reason we choose the parks we do. There was zero communication of the changes and many campers were only advised on check in when they had travelled with all there fire gear, wood, meals meant for spits etc. They showed no understanding or care. It was too late in the year to find alternatives with such a large group. As it turned out the weather for the 2 weeks was pretty average so a fire was missed even more so. We choose the parks we do based on the features advertised / enjoyed at the time of booking. I find it extremely deceitful to not communicate a change of park policies, especially to those who had a booking before these changes took place. We did not get what we paid for. Poor communication and feel robbed. The park in general was ok but needs a lot of $ to upgrade the facilities, the toilets & showers were quite dirty and always stunk, this was in general agreement with all our friends and other campers we spoke with. Not the experience we enjoyed the year prior nor the value for such an expensive peak rates. I pushed the matter re the fires with Discovery Parks and got no response despite many attempts. Free camping & Hipcamps is the future, parks are becoming harder &...
Read moreWe booked and paid for a powered camp site for a week in January 2021 without reading any reviews. After booking, we started reading terrible reviews from other recent visitors which made us seriously consider canceling our trip altogether. As this was the first holiday we’ve had in over 12 months, we decided to go. On arrival the park looked to be in good order. Our check in experience was the same as any other holiday park we’ve stayed at. The location is about 3min south of Woolworths Narooma and right next to a beautiful beach. Our powered camp site was large enough to fit our 10 person tent, gazebo, and landcruiser on. The pool was clean and working with some leaves present at the bottom (not excessive) as can be expected when surrounded by large trees. The communal BBQ facilities were clean, laundry facilities were clean but not all machines working. Jumping pillow was working and not overgrown by grass as other reviewers have stated. The bike track is in excellent condition and got a work out by all the kids at the park. Our only criticism would be about the communal shower/toilet block. During our stay these were not cleaned on a regular basis and mould is present in each shower. Based on other reviews, we prepared ourselves for a spider infested park by taking 3x cans of insect spray and thankfully didn’t need to use any of them. In our opinion, the park provided the basics needed and extras to keep the kids occupied. Although I can’t speak for on-site accommodation, we had an enjoyable time camping at this holiday park and would...
