Lower Glenelg National Park is a stunning natural retreat that offers something for everyone. The park is beautifully maintained, with a variety of walking trails that showcase its diverse landscapes, from lush forests to tranquil river views. It’s the perfect spot for a peaceful escape, whether you’re into hiking, camping, or just enjoying the serenity of nature. The park is well-signposted and easy to navigate, making it a great choice for both seasoned adventurers and families looking for a relaxing day out. The wildlife is abundant, and the peaceful atmosphere makes it an ideal place to unwind and connect with nature.

We paddled and camped on a 4 day canoe trip on Gunditjmara Country last week. Bocara (The Lower Glenelg River) in SW Victoria is truly beautiful with stunning limestone cliffs and kilometres of serenity. The campsites were lovely, as well as being well set-up and sheltered from the wind. We saw koalas, wallabies, possums and kangaroos up close, as well as numerous species of birds. Canoe touring is the best way to see this country, as well as slow down and fully appreciate it. A wonderful experience. ❤️ A big thankyou to Ali and Paestan Canoe Hire for their support and great service.

Great area for off grid camping/caravanning. Not all camping areas have toilets. A good starting point is Nelson information centre just over the SA border in Vic, grab a map of the area from the helpful staff and explore the area for a camp-site that suits you, it's a beautiful part of Australia! No pets allowed and no mobile signal.

We love the Glenelg River for kayaking. It is good for canoeing and boating also. Loads of keen fisher-ppl around, too. Very idyllic, peaceful place. It's totally worth a visit. Good launching spots on either side of the river in Nelson, though one is a little older but friendly for kids or various abilities. If you're heading here, esp with kids, I'd recommend bringing a picnic & snacks as there's not...
