At the very far northern end of Broulee Beach lie some very large rock formations that project into the ocean. These act as breakwalls, taking the force of the waves and creating safe harbours beside them, no matter the surf conditions. This comes in very handy today, as a big swell is making the actual beach part of North Broulee really only suitable for surfers, and they’re having a great time. Us swimmers though were happy to shelter beside the enormous rocks and enjoy an ocean swim in relative safety. Keen to return here with snorkeling gear, as this spot seemed to have a lot going on under the surface.

We walked to the beach, as there is access from Shark Bay. So it is nice going for a short walk between the beaches. There is meant to be a track to Broulee Island, however it is not signposted at all.
So if you are trying to find the track to the Island, don't expect it to be clearly...
