Bearing the name of the tallest tree in NSW and over 400 years old, there is no doubt that the trip was well worth it! Looking at the photos does not even give you a fraction of the impressiveness comparing to standing right in front of it. It might not shock you as a sequoia, but definitely worth a look. The amenities on site are pretty good. The only disappointment was that it is not possible to have direct access to the tree as a Quarantine area has been established around the tree to protect it from diseases. But that's fair enough anyway. As for the road to site, the Stoney Creek Rd however, is unsealed with plenty of loose rocks. But still, 2WD will be more than enough when weather condition is fair. Access from the Lakes Way would be recommended other than from Wootton Way as the road conditions and...

Visited the site recently, on our easter holiday. We made the way from Wotton way (turning off from the pacific highway on United Perolium Buladelah). The road is wide yet curvy and has some mean cracks and potholes - so be mindful as you zip through. turning off from wotton way - the track is of compressed dirt, and small rocks. beautiful forest scenery and sounds, with stream crossings over small bridges. be mindful of the track both condition and traffic, as it is narrow, curvy as well, and hard to hear any oncoming traffic. I recommend coming from the west rather than east, as it seems the road goes through a steep up hill on that direction. Dont miss on this stop - it truely is amazing and inspiring seeing this huge tree in the middle...

Beautiful drive along a dirt track to see NSW largest tree. It doesn't disappoint! Be aware the conditions of the track may change, it was quite tame at the time we went though - we still put the car in 4H just in case. Would not bring a caravan in on this road. There is also a tunnel under the freeway with 4.6m clearance. Be aware of goannas on the track (we came close to hitting one that ran out in front of us). There is room at the end for parking, with a short board walk to the tree viewing area. There are 2 picnic tables and a toilet - be aware it is a pit toilet with no hand...

A short drive from Wootton through Myall Lakes National Park and you will come across one of the tallest trees in NSW. Bring some lunch and make use of the picnic tables nestled into the bush. There's toilets available too which is handy. About 75mt from the carpark there is a boardwalk to the viewing platform. The first part of the track is gravel though. If you're in the area it's well worth a visit, especially if you're into bird watching and scenic drives. Lots of information to read too. No photo of the tree as it was way to talk to fit in, no matter what I tried.
