Amazing spot to visit. Its a historic site on a way out of site with the place going into ruins. Coal was discovered and mined by the New Wallsend Company which bought up the land, built a jetty and opened the mine in 1873. The coastal location facilitated shipment and avoided the bar at the entrance to Lake Macquarie. The enterprise employed up to 100 men. Most of the chute has fallen to the sea after a fire devastation to the jetty and the surrounds. Its an amazing spot for a sunrise. Its approximately 1.5 hours drive from Sydney, so do your self a favour and check this site out before its...

The owners were irresponsible and apathetic towards puppy’s bleeding ear, he didn’t even say a sorry and had just walked away. I strongly advice visitors with young children or vunerable dogs to not visit this beach at all if you value their safety...
