From 73-76 I was a U.S. Navy Radioman stationed there. I also have a brother who was stationed there, too; but, he left within a month after my arrival. Everyone I have met that were also there have great memories. The challenges were plenty: from a zillion flies; shark infested waters; triple digit heat and the animals (horses, Roo’s and birds) that loved to play Dodge the vehicle. The rewards were plenty: untouched beaches; snorkeling; camping; and, above all meeting people from all over the United States who converged at a place and met up with Australians, who, as much as we, in turn, welcomed their hospitality and, in some cases, an ever lasting friendship that continues to be shared through social media and...

Absolutely huge towers and tower 11 is actually used as a lighthouse now with a light mounted on top of it. It’s crazy to put into perspective how tall these are, as they don’t look huge but tower zero is close to 390m

Went to see Harold Holt but he wasn’t there. Waste of time. No diamond shaped UFOs either. But seriously it’s just a big RF antenna array to communicate with submarines. Nothing sinister. The frequency they use determines the antenna height. Lower the frequency the greater the range but the taller the...
