Fascinating river the water is soooo green. Nice to sit and enjoy. Not close to the water though! Croc wise is wise. Beautiful piece of country.Country. Do not take your dog here cross can smell them for miles. They are vulnerable near this water or any in the NT.

Great spot. Camping sites well set up with tables and chairs and fireplace....and for us at Couzens Lookout we had a great view of the flood plains and all that go with it. Downside, mozzies after dusk so plan to eat early and go inside.

No big crocodile at all, only saw one miserably small dwarf croc/pygmy fresh water croc. That place is full of mosquitos and flies. To road going into this place is unsealed, very muddy.

Very confusing. When we searched Google maps for "Mary River", it put us in the middle of an ADF (Austraian Defence Forces) live bombing range! The sign said "Do NOT touch anything or it may explode and kill you" !! Despite two near attempts, we did not enter. There was red flags, possibly to indicate actual firing of weapons? Anyway, we did not find the resort, and went back to Breezy camp ground and had a nice swim 👍 and...

You'll need a four wheel drive during the wet season as the dirt road once you leave the Arnhem highway can become boggy. There are some decent pot holes so be wary. It's a great fishing spot for barra if you don't have a boat. But it's croc country, so be wary and extremely careful...I counted 9 the day these...
