Lovely view in winter with the frozen Rocky Valley Lake and the surrounding, short walk from village.

If you decide to have a break from downhill skiing and walk to the lake, be aware the trains are primarily for xc skiing, having said that there is no rule saying you can not walk along the xc trails. Just try not to block their way or break their "precious" tracks. Some, mostly we encounteres over the years were some karens, will claim ppl other than xc skiier should not be there, which as said above it is outright bs. One particular karen, who we encountered twice over the years, will use the same aggressive tactic, (i call it anti sicial), to scare you by saying it is dangerous to be around the lake, even you could be 20, 30 metres away from it. And she would say people died in the lake. (fact, there isn't any recent drown reports) In our case, we were playing tobogganing, she tried to frighten us by saying if we had lost control and we would run into water and we WILL die. She used death multiple times. While her words were not wrong, put in context, there was good 10, 15m dirt and gravels land before entering ankle deep water. You need to be very fast to get into deep water. Let alone the snow was very soft, hardly can get 2/3 down the slope before the edge. I guess she and other karens just didnt like ppl in the snow, ruin their views, kinda pathetic really. Just dont let ppl like that ruin your day, it is absolutely worth visiting the lake in winter, it is Alpine National Park, not their backyard. More so, they dont pay to do xc. Just be respectful,...

One of the lovelyest place to visit winter or summer! All sorts of winter sports and lots of things to do in summer as well!

Falls Creek is magical in winter with snow covered trees and streets, some places you can can ski in and ski out, with the right conditions, experience walking from place to place at night with the lights reflection off the snow .

Pay attention to the next happy hours as hunting around the streets is such a beautiful experience.

Children freindy mountain with lots of thing for the kids to do! And day care available and a school for the locals.

Roads can be closed and also access to parking also can be very disappointing, check ahead of time other wise you will need to take the bus with all your gear to get on the mountain.

$132 day lift tickets adult, and magic mid week deals 3 day lifts for price...

A scenic days drive through Victoria's High Country and the Alpine National Park from Dinner Plain through Omeo, Anglers Rest, Rocky Valley, Falls Creek, Bogone, Mount Beauty, Bright, Hotham Alpine Village back to Dinner Plain. Stop off at Omeo and Bright to refuel the car and body. Toilets available at Rocky Valley Dam and Mount Beauty (try the bakery for a decent lunch menu or snack). Sullivan's Lookout on Tawonga Gap Road worth a stop for a view of Mount Beauty. Be warned that this is a seasonal drive as a large section of Bogong High Plains Road is closed during winter. Apart from the stops mentioned, services are few and far between. Well...

Honestly the best airbnb I have EVER stayed in 🥹🌿🤍 Located in the Victoria Alps, around a 3 hour drive from Melbourne, you can find this incredible Japandi style treehouse, close to Mt. Bulla. One of the most carefully curated and thought-out stays, they have absolutely everything you need here to unplug and relax in the beautiful surrounding nature (not to mention, a dream for any cooking enthusiast!) I couldn’t recommend this stay enough 🤍 link in my bio, where you read can all about it and book your next weekend away. 📍Sawmill Treehouse, Sawmill Settlement, Victoria #visitvictoria #melbourneroadtrip #japandistyle #airbnbfinds

Trail done: Mount feathertop via razorback, completed in autumn. This was a 22km roundtrip hike. We started off at Diamantina hut, where most people parked along the side of the road. The terrain itself wasn't too difficult. Path was mostly rocky with some rather flat and easy sections. There were steeper sections which were harder to cross but they were relatively short with no major rock scrambling. Most tiring part would be the 1.6 km towards the peak. We completed this in 8 hours with plenty of photo taking along the way. Note no toilets at entrance, except federation hut which is a slight detour from this track near to the peak.
